Because nobody can handle ball pressure the Center is playing point guard and it obviously doesn’t go well

How in the F do you sit up after a trade deadline and say this is contending. This is straight stupidity.

Ime and Stone saw we had no PG play while knowing Fred is out for the season, and still sat there and had zero interest in James Harden even tho he wanted to come back here

    they punted this season

we will see a million KD turnovers and Sengun’s sorry impersonation of a PG in the playoffs as we lose in the 1st round in 5 or 6 games

Man even before the FVV injury me and a few other posters was begging the rockets to go get another pg. instead they went after Capela and DFS, and resigned Tate.

Absolutely ridiculous that we haven’t addressed the point guard situation whatsoever. We are literally punting the season for no reason. I get that Amen and Reed are probably improving because of being forced to be play initiators, but is a little bit of development really worth wasting a whole-ass year? I have severe doubts we’ll make the second round, let alone the conference finals…I hope I’m proven wrong on this

We have 3 different types of PG on the team.

    1. Davison - traditional PG
    2. Reed - Combo PG
    3. Holiday - Combo PG

Davidson a combo guard. Moreso a scoring guard.

It’s just straight up pathetic. I don’t really have anything more than that to say about it. Like what are they doing with Reed and Amen for you know… practice… to develop their skills to be able to dribble a fcking basketball???

    This.

But id say Reed is more towards traditional and Holiday leans more towards the sg part of combo guard.

But still, the Reed and Davison are best suited to run PG on this team and neither (specifically Reed) are being thrown into the fire to raise the teams ceiling.

Udoka is a floor raiser coach with a floor raising mindset...so he leans towards floor raising players.

Yeah Reed is going to look horribly at times. Yeah your defensive lineups and sturdy guys will slog you to some wins and keep you from being truly horrible....But Reed's development is the only real shot you have at being special. Potentially raising the ceiling.

Its frustrating to watch because you can see where this is heading. As is, this formula with this personnel (EvEn "WheN FreD CoMeS BacK"), is just not going to have the top end ability to beat some of the teams theyll need to beat in order to win a ring. Cp3, Conley, ect...those guys are worse than Fred and Fred isnt making a difference either.

Even if you look at the pacers last year...they were in that position because of Hali. He raised their ceiling tremendously. You put a guy like Amen in there instead of him and theres 0 chance they make it through the playoffs to game 7 of the finals with a legit shot. This isnt the 90's, early 2000's anymore. Ime is a dinosaur and he hasnt adjusted. Hes got arrested development as a coach.

Listening to KD's presser last night, and he doesn't name names but he pretty clearly knows this is the problem.

He said after the all star break he'd like to see the offense be simplified a little bit more, get into their sets earlier, and more quick decisive actions.

IMO... right now what's slowing the game down is Sengun, Amen, etc. all worried about bringing the ball up, making that initial pass, THEN getting into their spots. Ime is supposed to be this tough as nails coach, but he's a little too soft on Sengun's ego to think of himself as a point guard or whatever.

We run these Horn's sets all the time with KD and Sengun. Get your a$$ down the court, and get into position to run the play. We wait too damn long to setup our stuff, and then as KD said, they are able to blitz the ballhandler in the last 5 seconds, and you are always pressing a shot that is uncomfortable, and out of rhythm.

If I see Sengun bringing the ball up one time after the all star break I'm going to lose my mind.

To my point above.... yes that means the Rockets need to play Reed as the point guard more. As bone headed of a passer as the guy is at times. In order to run those KD/Sengun horns sets, they have to have a ball handler who can bring the ball up, pass it off to the high post AND be an immediate threat as a shooter. Having Amen run those sets just doesn't work because they essentially have to switch Jabari and Amen mid play into the shooting spots, and it just slows everything down.

Ask @LosPollosHermanos.... I'm harder on Reed than anyone but you HAVE TO play the guy because he's basically our only shooter who can bring the ball up in the sets they want to run for KD/Sengun.

Holiday is not a point guard and should have never been re-signed in the first place.

Reed and Davison are both point guards and either one should be playing in the fourth quarter to run the offense, but since Ime won’t play them it’s pointless. The fourth quarters will continue to look like last night and the Rockets will continue to lose games where they had double digit leads late in the game.
