Please do not get mad. I apologize if I misunderstood you bigtex, but I hope you will understand what it means when accusations like that are lebelled. Deep in your heart you may not have meant what it appears to some of us as a subtle jab. PS. All leagues have problems.
Artest will be pleased as this will now give him the out to promote his music. He staged this, since he's the one who started it with the Wallace foul.
That's what was indicated, supposedly by other fans..... BUT, they said that it was the guy with the blue clothes and white hat. Looking at the replay, if it WAS this guy, he had no reaction to Artest charging right at him. If he was the guilty party, you'd think he would get ready to throw down. Artest actually bumped him on his way to the other guy, only after that did the supposed culprit react. The guy in black (?) on the other hand, was obviously bad mouthing and taunting........but didn't he have a drink in his hand still? HHHMMMMMMMMMMM..........let me look again....
You are correct Last Tuesday the National Basketball Association suspended indefinitely Denver Nuggets high-scoring guard, Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf, for refusing to stand during the national anthem. http://scholar.lib.vt.edu/VA-news/VA-Pilot/issues/1996/vp960318/03160004.htm
I can guarantee you that if someone threw a cup of water/beer at you and then you physically assaulted that guy, you would be the one going to jail, not him. I believe that would be the difference between misdemeanor assualt and felony physical assault.
I think everybody here all overreacted a little bit because a lot of ppl don't watch soccer games more often. In soccer games, fans even burn seats and brawl happens all the time between fans. With that being said, I think Artest clearly crossed the line by going to the stands fighting fans. It is understandable but absolutely stupid.
I'm glad David Aldridge left, ESPN now sucks. TNT is so much better with Kenny,Charles, Ernie and now DA. I know they have Magic and he seems like a r****d when he talks, but I find him entertaining with his double negatives and obvious analysis "THey ned to get Shaq the ball"..
I watch a lot of soccer and i know what your talking about.....The only difference i can see is the way soccer fans are placed in a stadium. It's so packed people on top of people then frustrations flair and being so close to your rivals at times will start huge brawls. In basketball and sports here in the US the seats are far apart and they don't cramp you in. Not only that Soccer Fans are into games so much more than fans of other sports because goals are so hard to come by and it makes it that much more intense.
I really don't think that will be necessary. I think 1) The NBA, if they don't already, need to educate their players on how to deal with unruly fans. 2) If fans starting throwing stuff on the court or at the players, then both teams should IMMEDIATELY be sent to the locker room until security can restore order and eject the guilty fans. 3) If security can't restore order, then the home team forfeits the game, whether they are down by 15 or up by 15.
he got knocked the F out can't believe he had the nerve to throw the beer with both of them right there.
Like I said last night, that dude saw Artest running into the stands and he thought he was gonna see someone get the crap beat out of him, until he relized that the someone was going to be him. Also, check out the dude with the white cap, he is pushing him over to that guy.
NEW YORK, Nov. 20 -- NBA Commissioner David Stern issued the following statement today: “The events at last night’s game were shocking, repulsive and inexcusable -- a humiliation for everyone associated with the NBA. This demonstrates why our players must not enter the stands whatever the provocation or poisonous behavior of people attending the games. Our investigation is ongoing and I expect it to be completed by tomorrow evening. The NBA has taken the following actions, effective immediately: 1. Indiana players Ron Artest, Stephen Jackson and Jermaine O’Neal are suspended indefinitely, the length to be determined upon completion of the investigation. 2. Detroit player Ben Wallace is suspended indefinitely, the length to be determined upon completion of the investigation. 3. Review of rules and procedures relating to altercations and security have been undertaken so that fans can continue to attend our games unthreatened by events such as the ones that occurred last night.”
