I will say that DFS has not looked sharp on the offensive end. Neither have any of the Rockets, though. He had some good plays when he was out on the court though. He always plays solid d, he blocks out, and he doesn't turn the ball over. He's on a minute restriction and hard to catch any rhythm when you are limited in minutes. He had that play yesterday, when he pump faked Jalen Williams, drove to the basket and kicked it to Tari for 3. Later on in that quarter, because of that earlier sequence, he hit that corner 3. The Rockets offense isn't designed to take many 3's. If anyone gets 3's on this team, besides KD and Reed. It's off of drive and kicks. I think he was 1-5 yesterday, but I look more at the whole game. He plays defense on 4s that are bigger than him and too strong for Jabari. He may not be lighting it up for all these offensive minded people here, but he does his job on defense just like Okogie.

Technically true. I think Rockets had already decided to use NTMLE making the decision on Capela mostly do they want Capela or 3rd center on minimum as decision on becoming hard capped was likely already made. The Rockets have limited mechanisms to add salary such that the hard cap basically has delayed when Davison gets signed to a standard contract and Rockets add another 2-way. I’m a little surprised Green wasn’t traded to open room for a buyout guy.

I asked Coach Udoka how he balances wanting to give Finney-Smith the time he needs to work his way back from off-season surgery, with also wanting to give time to players like Isaiah Crawford, who played really well against Charlotte.

Udoka said it's not easy to get your rhythm in short five-minute stretches, but they are looking at the long term.

Udoka also compared his situation to what Steven Adams dealt with last season.

Udoka talks about what players like Isaiah and JD have brought.

“To inject some energy and juice and a different look to have Isaiah or JD and those guys it always brings us some life.”

Yes. He’s made five more than Fred.

When is Dorian Finney-Smith going to have a good game?

His game log is shameful. Get this guy off the team already

he knew he could find a sucker in Stone, and he took full advantage

    I can’t not respect it

Well, he has always been just streaky and only a 8 ppg career scorer, what did people expect other than Defense?

PJ Tucker scored more than him and he was a Zero.

I admit, I wasn't that familiar with his game pre-Rockets, so I didn't really have expectations for him. I just didn't expect him to have absolutely zero influence on either side of the court. And I really didn't expect him to have no game to be familiar with at all.

Replacing Dillon Brooks with Dorian Finney-Smith has to be up there with replacing Trevor Ariza with James Ennis in all-time bad free agent signings.

Stone needs to be strapped to a Rocket and fired into the sun for even thinking this guy was worth a contract.

This move was a failure. And the trade of two scorers for one is not looking too good either.

2 scorers and a first* (could have selected Derik Queen or Cedric Coward)

Where does he rank as worst Rockets signing of all time? He’s up there.

I still think it's too early to call this one as far as "worst contract ever" or anything like that, he's only played 316 minutes for the team. They've been godawful minutes, no doubt, but it's TBD whether he can turn it around or whether his injury cooked him.

I do think we can say it was pretty dumb to sign a 32-year-old roleplayer to a four year contract who we knew was already seriously injured at the time. Even if DFS turns it around at some point he's obviously not what we needed this season and the level of risk was unacceptable.

At this point you probably have to give up an FRP if you want to salary dump him. Since this season looks to be toast I guess you keep playing him and hope he improves and at least turns that into a pu pu platter of SRPs.
