It bothers me that we are not having separate halftime shows at the Super Bowl over politics. We already have huge segments of the population consuming very biased and separate social media and news based on politics. We have a lot of people that will not shop at certain places or buy certain products based purely on politics. That is what bothers me personally - and that is why to me it isn't the same thing as the lingerie bowl or the puppy bowl. The lack of cohesiveness on some very simple things is not good for anyone.
I don't care at all that someone would put on an alternative half time show as a way to raise money. Bidness is bidness. I think it is damn good business to try to capitalize on the super bowl's popularity and cultural status even if you don't get to do so officially. I do hate that in order to make that money they stir up anger and hatred.
Some of the drama also stems from Trump hating any artist that has different political views than him. His really die-hard cult followers hate what he hates. Those are the same folks who cheer for the old man dancing to YMCA.
