Rockets still have a young team, so its not like there not going to be perfect sailing threw the way. Defensively it can be a problem as you see. When Coby white was the age of the rockets rookies he sucked, nobody cared. Now hes got some years of exp unlike the rockets exp at 25 and eveyone wants a piece. Rockets rookies still need 2 more years of exp. Eason is oldest at 24, but not as much exp as Coby White. Anyways as far as Amen Thompson being exposed how the **** was he? He scored 25? Reason the rockets got exposed last night was there is no guard that plays good Defense sometimes on the rockets end, its been where FVV Has helped. Spurs took advantage of the lack of defense rockets sometimes have with there guards.
So basically confirming my thoughts. We are technically done at this point. By the time that our young players mature enough (I still don't think Jabari or Eason would make that leap) Durant is probably heading to retirement and we'll be repeating the same cycle of tanking for better picks. I don't think we are getting a championship in the next 5 years and you can bank on that with the current pace of how we're managing this team. Not asking for people to agree with how I feel but just sharing what I am observing. I do wish we get lucky with some good trades and a better coaching system
Same as last year. Not addressing our weaknesses while other teams are slowly creeping up on us and the good teams are getting better. Bad coaching and somewhat relaxed management amidst the clear signs of poor performance. We might as well just tank again to get an actual franchise player.
This team will always be playing for 2nd place in the west unless we make a big trade and see if the gamble pays off, if not, then rebuild until we actually get a #1 overall pick this time. Stone giving these terrible contracts like FVV having a NTC completely shackled us in terms of flexibility. How about wasting money on DFS who we knew was gonna miss half the season and clearly he's washed post-injury. Or completely relying on an injury prone Steven Adams who everyone could've guessed would get injured sooner or later. I said it 5 years ago, if we're gonna tank we need to bottom out until we get a #1 pick in a generational draft, otherwise don't even bother. Might as well just trade for two superstars to build a team here.
Totally agree with all the points here. It's like: what are we actually trying to achieve this season? Are we trying to beat OKC and the rest of the west with what we have no matter how flawed it is or are we just going to let Durant die of old age and start over? I feel kinda sad for KD since he will probably end up retiring without any additional championship to his belt.
I mean KD's preferred destinations were SAS, HOU, and likely Miami I guess so the risk was always there. It took two to tango.....
Being emotional is using all the emotional language you do, posting minutes after the trade deadline has passed, calling people stupid....and get this - people who gamble a lot tend to have emotional regulation problems so the "I'm willing to bet..."statements you make just confirm the opposite. You aren't being realistic, you are being emotional...and frankly when you are using emotions to later justify logic, you generally are not being logical at all(even if you end up being right). Don't get me wrong - emotions have their value, but NOT in long term strategy.
Okay since you're probably trying to protect your friend that called me out as emotional, let me lay it out for you as simple as I can. The team is flawed and anyone watching the games without blinders should realize this. Remember the recent San Antonio game where we were clicking during the first half? That was some beautiful basketball and I was actually stating in the game threads at the time that I might be eating crow for the rest of my dinners. Then for some odd reason, we decided that it wasn't good enough and switched back to our old routines in the 2nd half which cost us the game. That is a flaw both within the coaching staff and also the players because they should have a voice to let the coaches know that. Next one: If you read my post a few pages back, I did say that waiting until the deadline to actually make a move was a smart idea since we don't want to jump the gun and do a trade just for the sake of trading. We still need to position the team to where we are not going to be hampered and find a rational move to let go of deadweight contracts like DFS, Unc, Tate, and Holiday. By freeing up some cap space, we should be able to add actual players who can contribute during the buyout market but we did not, same as last year when we traded for Cody Zeller (where is he now?). Finally, I don't gamble and that point isn't really central to what I'm arguing. Focusing on it instead of the broader context sidesteps the actual issue within the team. If there's a clear and logical case for how we can succeed come postseason without making meaningful adjustments then I'm open to hearing it. What I'm pushing for is a discussion grounded in reasoning and concrete solutions, not a dismissal of the argument as emotional or an asssumption that the current approach is sufficient.
The worst place to be in the NBA is high end of mediocrity. we’re ****ed for another good 10 years probably
And that sucks for us. Love the team and all but I am seriously scared that I might not be able to see us getting another championship in my lifetime. I thought we had it during the CP3-Harden era but we are seriously cursed with injuries lol.
How old are you? in my 30s gonna have grey hair and a walker when I tell my kids about the game we almost made the finals in Stone Age 2018…what a time to be alive!!
I can see our team beating other teams in a playoff series. I don't think we are play in tourney fodder quite yet.
too old brother haha. Now, this is me being emotional: I just want the team to succeed so bad especially when the deep playoff runs happen around May which is my birthday. So imagine, I get to see the team getting destroyed every single time for the past 3 decades
You’re going to be around. If you have the vigorousness to post here like you are you have plenty of time ol’ timer! besides think about it, at least we aren’t the kings or Knicks..
oh definitely not play-in. That would be a disaster. Optimistically speaking, I think we'll settle for a 2nd round exit but the way things are going, my projection is 1st round exit. Again, I do hope that I am proven wrong and until we make adjustments, the future doesn't look so bright. I also hate that we're tied to FVV's massive contract + DFS who hasn't proven his value yet.
that is true. Although, we are trying so hard to emulate the Kings with that light the fuse thing which is so unimaginative. At least put some real flames in that rocket instead of smoke!
