I don't think they want any guards despite a desperate need for one. I think they'll find another center on the buyout market and call it done. They view all of our forwards as wings, still think Amen is a PG, and still want Reed off the bench. So how would another guard play?
Cam Thomas can score in bunches, but he's horrible at literally everything else. A black hole on offense and legitimately one of the worst defenders in the entire league. Ime would never.
Honestly I've kinda given up on any strategic changes. If this team is determined to rely solely on iso and rebounds for offense, then might as well bring in someone who's at least good at iso. Anyone can search my post history and see how much I've hated Cam Thomas over the years but sadly, he fits this team's offensive sytem: no system.
Regardless of my own feelings about Cam Thomas, he's never coming to a team where the coach will yank you at first sign of defensive lapses. And despite his major issues, he is going to get multiple legit offers on the buyout market.
I've seen Cam Thomas score with more than 5 seconds left on the shot clock, so that would be a hard "no" for Ime.
