Going to Minny Ayo Dosunmu to Minnesota Feb. 05, 2026, 7:01 AM PST Shams Charania: Just in: The Chicago Bulls have traded Ayo Dosunmu to the Minnesota Timberwolves, sources tell ESPN. x.
[Krawcyznski] Wolves are sending Rob Dillingham and Leonard Miller to Chicago in the deal. Wolves are giving four second-round picks and also getting Julian Phillips in the deal, per sources.
He would have been a big upgrade to the roster in a position of need and for that price I'm baffled why we couldn't land him.
Minny has been trying to pawn Dilli for a year. He’s been a huge disappointment. We definitely could have done better.
You would trade Reed for Ayo? Because that’s what the Bulls got back (lottery ticket). Former top 8 pick that hasn’t worked out. Rockets have one lottery ticket in Reed and half a season of Tari. Okogie, Tate, Green, Holiday aren’t getting you anything. Capela, Adams, DFS have neutral value at best (but more likely negative value; certainly DFS)
It probably would have taken Reed or a Brooklyn/Phoenix pick to beat Minny's offer. I don't think Ayo is worth that, although I do really like him as a player. I just don't see a lot of upside there, I think he's like Tari in that regard. Right at the edge of his prime years and just about a finished product.
We're putting all our eggs in the value of those future first-round picks. Stone is gambling that our 2027 picks will be golden. I hope he's not our GM to make those picks. If he is, the fanbase might just quit on the team.
Bummed that we didn't get him. It seems they're going for Portis, and we will probably get our PG from the buyout pool. Freddy will have the keys next season, for better or worse.
When a team knows you really need a specific type of player, they will try to fleece you. The Bulls knew the Rockets really needed a guard and probably had a higher asking price from us versus other teams regarding their players. It sucks Minnesota got him because the Wolves and the Rockets are pretty similar in that they are playoff/borderline play-in teams, but they just got a lot better.
