Does Phil Jackson like to wear cowboy boots?

The question is, does JVG? I doubt it.

Then again I don't care for them, and I bet I could do a better job of motivating this team. Whatever that means.

I strongly disagree. Even Shaq, who is as dominant in the paint as they come, asked for a decent power forward to play besides him to take some pressure off of himself. Yao needs a sidekick in the paint who can clean up his misses, grab the defensive rebounds, hit 15-20 foot open jumpers, and can take and dish punishment down low. Someone like Charles Oakley or Horace Grant. Cato was perfect as long as he was'nt left all by his lonesome with the ball in his hands, and the opposing team begging him to take a 20 foot jumpshot.

1 fact i didn't notice before - he mentioned at one point that the rocks have only 3 players with winning record and they are yao, ward and boki! wow! this team really has a lot to learn and overcome.

what's his potential? 21-10 isn't his potential? And i don't think you should be asking your superstar center to pound the paint. Everyone has to realize that yao isn't shaq. He isn't in the same mold and that's that. He's a finesse player plain and simple. So why make him something he's not? I mean ask him to be aggressive is ok but asking him to change his whole game is going against what his whole game is all about.

    This is hilarious!

After ripping Phil Jackson for years and years, you guys want him as a coach now? You guys all have this Jordan/Kobe/McGrady dreams of the triangle in your heads.

OMG!! I can't believe this crap. How come he is such a great coach now and Satan in a suit last year?

    Freakin hypocrits.

I have never liked him, but I don't want PJ either.

I only supported JVG over Larry Brown, and that was for personal reasons.

    I wanted Mike Dunleavy.

We need someone who undeststands when to reign them in and when to let em loose.

It doesnt matter if he wins 10 rings. Its all about the fact that he is from NYC and he brought in NYC people to help him. Its a North Vs South.

When I moved from Houston in 1990 and came to the NYC area, I SWORE that I would never, EVER step ONE FOOT inside NYC. I wouldn't work there nor would I live there. I was from Houston. I had my accent. I had my customs.

    NOW?

I couldn't imagine myself anywhere else in the world. Its a mental thing that was evidenced in the election.

Thats all that is. Look at how you guys HATED Phil Jackson and now LOVE him for the Rockets. Its unbelievable how far some people go in the Gundy hatred. The guy just got here and you want him out. If he THREEPEATS, you would wait the next years 3 game losing streak and start wanting to get rid of the guy.

Fans are weird, I tell you. They don't even show up at the Center despite having two worldly players yet know when to get rid of a coach that is totally respected around the league.

Yeah, if rockets lose ten more games, we can get Yao and Boki off from that list too.

I, for one, never called him "Satan in a suit." My personal choice would've been to keep RT. Second choice would've been Dunleavy. The situation is changed now. Instead of two "first step" guys, the Rockets have a high-powered scorer in T-Mac. Further, Jackson is the one without a job. Given those circumstances, Phil becomes my choice.

    Caphorns...

The point is that where VanGundy is from and where his heart is matters more to fans in Houston than if he wins championships. I can tell that the instant hatred stems from the fact that Ewing is here, Ward is here, Witherspoon was here, etc. This is 10 percent coaching ability and 90 percent the person. You can't judge his coaching ability from 18 months of you seeing him on television. The LEAGUE agree he is an excellent coach! People hate him because he is not smiling for you guys and because you don't see a beer in his hand after the game...PERIOD.

Now, everyone will say that they never thought ill of Jackson, that this excuse and that excuse.

Jackson is in your mind because everyone thinks Shaq/Kobe. THE MINUTE JACKSON COMES HERE AND DOESN'T RIP 20 IN A ROW OR WINS IT ALL IN ONE YEAR, THE VERY SAME PEOPLE WILL JUMP OFF THE JACKSON BANDWAGON.

Why not tape your ankles nice and tight so that you don't hurt yourself jumping on and off the bandwagon of your choice at the time of your choosing?

I stick to what I said. HYPOCRITS.

And I thought the fans here were nuts. At least they show up to the building and buy the tickets.

I will be the first one to call for Gundys head after THREE YEARS. Thats how long I have patience for a young team like ours. You have to build and create the chemistry. You just don't win right off the bat. Probably the same people who tried to blast a bullet in their head after the Barkley trade. Or when Dream was the best center and one of the 2 or 3 best players in the NBA for YEARS and the Rockets never made the playoffs.

The Freak might be right. We might never see another parade in Houston. Do you know how hard it is to win it all? EVERYTHING has to break right. Imagine if you were in Detroit before last year.

You can continue to b**** and moan after every loss. Get that ulcer all nice and worked up.

I didn't like him as a coach because he doesn't know anything about running an offense - never has. Those other things are just bonuses.

I was all for the van gundy hiring last year. I thought he was pretty good and would get Francis to play defense. He also always says the right things about getting players to do this or that. However after watching over 100 games coached by him, I think I he is a above average coach that sacrifices offense for the sake of defense. His teams don't have any balance and will NEVER win a championship. If a coach isn't capable of winning a championship, then at least present some entertainment on the floor. The current rockets are the most boring team in basketball.

I hate to say this, but I would even rather have Nellie who I believe is one of the most overrated coaches of all time over JVG. The guy takes all the joy out of professional basketball for me.

As one of my friends said to me when we hired JVG last year, JVG would be a great high school coach, but he doesn't allow superstars to be superstars which is why he will never win big in the NBA.
