He's a de facto rookie due to how he was mismanaged last year. This is the first season he's gotten serious minutes... and those serious minutes are what causes players to hit the rookie wall. He's never played 1200 minutes in a season in his life and he's expected to waste a ton of energy prioritizing defense over everything else. Those two things together equal dead legs for young players who aren't used to it. It'll be interesting to see if he can push past it and get that shot back or if they'll have to slow him down a bit.
You mean like when Jabari shot 30% from 3? With Amen, he's always been so pathetic at shooting there's no way to tell if his shot was effected by the rookie wall or just his lack of skill.
Amen just seems to be built different physically in every way. Don't know how he plays huge minutes like he does and still has the kind of motor we see from him. Jabari has had similar ups and downs to Reed, but I don't think it looks like fatigue, I feel like with him it's mental.
We'll never know about Jabari's rookie season. He played like crap on heavy minutes all season long. Amen is probably just a freak of nature kind of guy.
I think it’s pretty pathetic conditioning for a guy in his second year playing 20min a game to be fatigued halfway through the season. Between RGV and early season he played about as much last year. I think his shot is off either because of injury or confidence issues. Just an opinion, not something any of us know. It’s just as common place for young players to suffer from confidence issues as fatigue. I think half of Amen’s issue with shooting is confidence, fortunately his other skills make up for it.
One can be a hater while the other side of the argument is making excuses. I'm not sure why Reed sucks now, but had a pretty decent sample in 30 games of being pretty good. I don't see 30 games as a perfect sample size, but I don't think even Jalen Green has had a peak as high as Reed's was followed by a valley this low in a 50-game span or so. My guess is that he's somewhere between his hot streak and this cold streak.
It’s th nba fatigue isn’t an excuse but he’s just not moving well, hopefully it’s an injury that he can recover from if it’s attitude and him being a puss we’re screwed
I don’t like the hater term. I think I’m being objective. I think Reed can be a good professional basketball player. The evidence I see right now would suggest he is not ready to be a strong contributor on our team this year. Whether it is fatigue or something else I don’t think any of us know. If it is fatigue then signing White to reduce his minutes is a good idea. If it’s something else it’s still a good idea to obtain White. We need another consistent 3 pt shooter to compete this year. All the bs about me being scared that he will take Amen’s pg duties away are just that, BS, cooked up by BTG that predicted Reed would take over as our starting PG halfway through his rookie season. It just gripes the hell out of him that most of what I have said has happened and I called him out on his foolishness. If I was worried about Amen being supplanted as PG, I wouldn’t want Coby either.
He played 760 minutes total last season between the nba and G League spread out across 7 months. This season he's played 1183 minutes in 4 months. How is that about the same? Lol
➤He should play 33 minutes ➤He should be starting ➤Durant & Sengun don’t pass him the ball ➤He’s afraid of being yanked ➤He’s being sabotaged by the head coach ➤He’s purposely tanking his value ➤He’s fatigued ➤He’s hit the rookie wall ➤He has a [leg] injury he’s hiding One night he’d give you 25, the next 0, one night 25, the next 6, one night 12, the next 3. @hlmbasketball Fatigued? He’s playing basketball for a living, not logging tall timbers @Os Trigonum “I don't know. I guess I'm way too old. You're playing basketball for a living. Recharge your batteries? Every morning you should get up and get on your knees and thank God that you're playing basketball for a living. Someone is actually paying you, in some cases millions and millions, in other cases hundreds of thousands at the minimum to play basketball. If you have to recharge your battery to play basketball, I understand recharging my battery that I've done three double shifts, I'm laying cement, and I come home. I understand that. I don't understand that, recharge your battery for what? To be able to come out here and play basketball for a living? If we have to do that, you're in the wrong sport, you're doing the wrong thing. This is a high energy game that requires total commitment but it's a joy to play. It's fun.” - Rockets Legend™ Kevin McHale He had a Jalen Green heater in November. That’s it. (Except not as good as Jalen’s heaters) Reedsanity(11/5 MEM to 11/26 GSW) : 10 games, 54/47/69, 17.1 points, 2.9 rebounds, 3.3 assists He’s made 6 of his last 36 3pt-A. Better than Coby White(or another guard they could acquire)? “Fine” … FINE?! That wouldn’t be fine from Jabari Smith, Amen Thompson and damn sure not Jalen Green. “Slump”? He’s not in a slump. He’s been booty juice for awhile now. A slump (or conversely, a hot streak) is a few games. You suck for a few games, shake it off, you come back up. You get hot for a few games, cool back down. Jabari, who everyone including myself got on his ass/bashing him, was in a slump. First 31 games: 16/7 on 46/38/79 Next 8: 12/7 on 31/21/63 Last 9: 16/7 47/39/84 (back to where he was)
Spoken like a 26% career 3 point shooter.... When shooting like Amen Thompson is acceptable, so is that kind of attitude.
Some are valid, but your passive aggressive points have been addressed ad nauseum in here If you don’t think he was getting yanked or not getting meaningful minutes when he was shooting lights out I don’t know what to tell you. yes , I get that collectively it fits an agenda and a cry baby post. Nobody is arguing that Reed doesn’t need to play better (look at my own posts I criticized him heavily), it’s the constant biching and looking for any clue to affirm past biases “oH luOk hE mIsSED a 3 UdOkEr wERe rIghT alL along” Reed is absolutely playing like **** but are you going to say that getting yanked the Philly game, the Wolves game, etc was the same level of play as what he’s putting on the court now? Why am I mentioning this, he’s single handedly won us 6-7 games (just the ones I can count off of the top of my head), so a bad stretch that could be due to injury etc for a very young and inexperienced player doesn’t deserve the dedication to misery you are injecting We love you J.R., but trust me you don’t want anybody making a similar collage regarding your posts of amen, Jabari, Senguin, Reed or anybody not named KD. Every game it’s “schitgoon needs to be traded blah blah”. KD has like 1-2 good years left so you can get on board with the young core or continue to moan lol TLDR: stop using a stretch for a very young and inexperienced player to affirm prior biases, especially when said player has been instrumental if not THE reason in beating all the top teams in the league we have slayed
The crazy thing is that Reed is actually as inconsistent/bad as they'd say Jalen was, whilst Jalen had a LOT more good games overall than Reed is having. I do find the whole CF narrative thing fascinating. Tbh though, I was bitten once as a former Jalen fan, and Reed looks more sketchy than Amen does and he aint looking like a sure anything either.
