You know, I totally get the frustration of barely beating two of the worst teams in the league, but context is important—the Mavs ALWAYS make games close and the Pacers have been an over .500 team for their last 10 games or so (and we have struggled on their home floor for a while now). So I’ll gladly take these wins. Also, we were LOSING these close games to mediocre/bad teams early in the season…it’s why we’re not gunning for the first seed as we speak. So I do think that’s growth. Aside from Durant, our squad is very young, and today that young squad did what they were supposed to do!
Once again Ime got bailed out by Sengun iso ball. If Pacer had legit center we would’ve got blown out
Reed did everything in his power to turn the ball over in that inbound. Like such a dumb ass pass. And then he passes it Sengun to take the foul. You're in there for a reason Reed you puss.
I mean we are missing KD, FVV and Adams. Thats 3 guys making 90M missing from the roster. Any team would struggle with 90M of talent missing so the Rox winning actually shows the depth of this team.
Any time I watch the Rockets warming up (beginning of the game or half time), he takes the fewest (if any) warmup shots. Tonight at halftime he was nowhere to be found at least in the video they showed. He doesn’t seem to believe working on his shooting is important during the season, it’s for summer time and to flash some video for his fans. Everything about his shooting game yells “I don’t practice it much”, including the inconsistent releases. He played w nice game tonight but nothing about it says he will turn the corner for a great last 2-3 months. He feasted on defensive scrubs but otherwise airballed a 3 and missed everything from the outside. And still some turnovers that were almost fatal.
I rewatched the bad inbounds pass by Reed. Nembhard played off the inbound and got in front of Sengun. Reed should've held it a little longer but Holiday, Jabari, or Amen didn't even budge from their spots to get open. Just very low basketball IQ. It's like Ime designed it for Reed to throw into Sengun no matter what and he was dead set on it.
Sengun angry at the AS snub I guess. He wilded out for the win. Amen and Jabari played really well. Capela deserved more mins and Tari played a lot but didnt get enough touches. Reed continues his regression back to scrubville. Every time he starts thats when he starts shooting blanks. DFS is still horrible. Okogie was a waste of 12 mins, not sure why he is so inconsistent. Udoka still bad at roster mgt. I guess props for playing Tate and Holiday, but there should have been an emphasis for more Tari shots instead of Reed.
Do keep in mind that not a single Rocket moved on that inbound play. He had been told, "throw it to Sengun, who was standing iso-still." That was the play. It's terrible late-game coaching. We're a team that needs to take advantage of movement rather than hoping we can make plays with length.
