U.S. Mail Truck, federal vehicle, they have the right of way.

Kagy, what should really happen is the police should enforce the law that says slower traffic keep right, or left lane for passing only.

Those are ticketable offenses just like speeding.

What about when there is traffic, or you are passing slower traffic, and that 1997 silver Honda zooms up at 80 miles an hour and parks on your bumper -- as if that will make the other traffic move faster?

dc sports, please, give me some ****ing credit. It should be obvious that that is not what was going on. There was no one in front of the piece of crap Plymouth Neon that decided the left lane would be a nice place to cruise at 70 mph. There was no one in front of it when it decided to move into the left lane, either.

I am giving the Clairol-brained bimbette driver the benefit of the doubt by assuming she was merely ignorant of the purpose of the left-hand lane-- because it looked very much like what she was trying to do was be a pest because I was presumably driving faster than she thought safe.

As for passing slower traffic, I think it should be pretty clear that if you're doing it in an expeditious manner, those of us who speed aren't going to have to "park on your bumper" or flick our lights at you.

I thought I made my objection pretty clear here-- don't cruise in the ****in' left lane at five mph over the posted limit.

Just to add a thought: when I'm doing 80 in the left lane, if a Porsche or some such comes roaring up behind me at 90, my response is not to tap my brakes, slow down, or ignore em and keep cruising along at 80. I get out of the damn way even if I have to slow down.

Rocketman was on the money. Federal Vehicles own the road in any situation. Weird, but true.

On a side note, Saw CLinton, Chelsie, and Hillary fly away in the chopper Saturday. They took off from between the Washington Monument and Lincoln memorials, shooting up water all along the reflecting pool. Was pretty cool. Normally they don't take off from there, but they had a carnival on the front lawn! You couldn't even see the White House there were so many rides. It was weird.

I'm driving today on a two lane highway and what do u think happens. Its a 50 mph zone and this one dumbass is going 35 in the left lane. As if thats not enough there is another dumb ass going 35 right next to him. There is barely any space for me to get in front, I give my indicator and the hoe still wouldnt let me through. So I cut the right guy off (barely), and start going my merry way. The guy has the audacity to speed up and start tailgating me. I brake so hard the f***** finally got scared and backed up like a mile away. Just thought I should share that on this thread.

Maybe you should read the prior post regarding road rage. People such as yourself, who turn a commute to work into My Quest To Rule The Road, cause a lot more problems than drivers such as myself who simply want to make better time.

I didn't take it upon myself to tell you what "your duty" was; I took it upon myself to tell pansy ass drivers (include yourself in that group if you'd like) to follow the established rules of the road and not putter around in the far left lane. I am sorry you don't like that particular rule of the road. Tough ****. Get out of the way.

No, sure don't, but thanks for asking. It's already difficult to get a license to use a gun in public.

And I'm only 26. I'm not going into politics until I make my first million. That way, I'll use the political system to protect my assets instead of using it to create them. [IMG]

    BK,

    I agree.

What about when you're doing 75 or 80 in the left lane, and some dude comes flying up behind you at 90+.

I usually will get out of their way, if it is convenient for me. By "convenient" I mean, I won't have to slow down drastically or I won't lose like 5 car lengths by getting over. I will almost always get over, but sometimes I have to wait for the right opportunity.

But, if the lane to my right is empty, it's usually safer to just let them pass me. Because, in my experiences when I try to get out of the way into an empty lane to my right, they are doing the same and they just have to swerve back into the fast lane to get around me.
