I just found out something terrifying! In the past 3 years, I haven't written one letter! Not even one! Everything has become email based.

Do any of you guys still write letters and buy stamps these days? Let me know, because I want to know I am not alone in this matter.

I still buy stamps.... to send my rent check. And even that may be going to the way of the dodo, because I'm starting to look into getting "bill pay" from my bank to deal with it.

But to be honest, I didn't write much anyway. Between free long-distance on my cell phone and email, I don't really need to be composing snail mail.

I use my employers postage meter. I believe I may have written one letter in my life. Email rules.

I do. I don't do it as often as I should. I wrote my brother a letter a couple of weeks ago, and during the campaign I was writing letters to potential voters.

I wish I wrote personal letters more often. In college I used to write them all the time. I loved it.

I think I'll sign up for a pen pal.

I have an uncle who loves to write letters and refuses to start using a computer. So I write letters back to him and I send thank-you notes. Otherwise my stamps go towards all the bills I prefer to write a check for, it is easier to control when money leaves my checking account that way.

We used to play our credit cards, car payments, ect. by check and mail them off. Now we have online accounts w/ all the diff companies and pay them over the net. MUCH more easy and u get 2 save $0.37 per stamp! & wat the hell is a letter never heard of it :)

I don't trust online transactions for bill-paying. If we get audited, or if the company we're paying makes a mistake, I don't trust the online transaction receipt as being as reliable as a cleared check.

Of course, you won't be receiving your cleared check in the mail much longer.

I still send some bills through the mail and the occasional letter. Surprised no one mentioned christmas cards. Anyone here just send like x-mas e-mails? Seems kind of cold and non holiday cheer that way.

I think the mail and postoffice are still gonna be important for business and formal documents to be transmitted, signed, etc. But casual letters will/are replaced by email. Heck, I talk to my Chinese cousins with MSN messager these days, why would I want to write a mail?

It's good to have email for personal correspondence. When we didn't, it was hard to get around to it.

I do miss the little personal touches and things that are hard to do online, though. We used to draw things, write in different colors, and use stamps. Not the kind you put on the outside of the letter... but the ink kind where you can have "Kiss my a$$", "the more I see of men the better I like my dog", and "100% pure a$$hole" on the letter as many times as we wanted. We used those to vent our frustration and support each other when we were... disappointed with the men in our life. Good times. :)

I just heard that Congress is about to pass a bill that will charge for e-mail to protect the postal service! Is this true???
