The NBA rules do not allow that. The Rockets were over the cap and I doubt they had an exception large enough to fit NAW's salary or matching salary that Rockets were fine losing.
His defense is visibly much better last night. Hope it's a sign he's getting back his mobility and timing.
agree but need to see several games of good shooting from bari. Tonight is a start. Bari isn’t coming off injury.
You were saying? Also we signed Capela and did the KD trade before FA. Imagine how hosed the Rox would be now without Capela when Sengun sits down Unc Jeff or Tate will be the C lol.
All yall surprised that dfs can cut need to watch his highlights. DFS opens up another avenue for our offense when he’s fully healthy.
He is playing at a fraction of the cost cuz we cut him. He was making 9M a year as a Rocket bro. He is also playing well cuz getting cut and getting a massize paycut prob made him realize he needs to get his rear in gear or he is out the league. Thats like saying Lillard is playing for vet min when Milwaukee is paying him 25M a year.
didn’t stone sign him to the bloated contract simply as a possible salary cap filler if a star became available for trade? i think he did that with uncle jeff too
It wasnt a bloated contract it was an unguaranteed contract. He was coming off a season where he just put up 6/4 in just 16 mins in the playoffs on 65% FG. His contract was unguaranteed after the first year so we can cut him if there are no suitors. Thats why he got to sign with Memphis on the cheap but his salary on the Rox is more than Capela.
I mean it’s been a minute since he came back and it seems like nothing has changed, is he cooked for a while? This is not looking good
Yeah. He looks really bad. I mean, at this point we should see something positive out of him but there's just nothing there. Maybe his defense at times, but aside from an occasional glimpse of that he looks like an incredible waste of money.
Would have actually been pretty bad not to get a decent third string center for the exact reason they signed Clint: Steven Adams' struggles to stay healthy. You could say they got the wrong third string center (although Clint has actually been looking better lately IMO), but just diverting that money into signing NAW and not getting one at all would have been a problem right now.
I don't know. He hasn't improved fast enough but I'm willing to give him a try since we've had injury issues. I think it's a coin flip whether he'll be fit and moving/shooting a lot better before the playoffs. Could be next season. I don't think it's never. OTOH, I'd happily trade him to some other team who's season is not as critical as ours (i.e. can afford to be patient with his recovery). Would take any PG or combo guard making roughly $12.5m or whatever. I'm not too fussed about it. Even backup 3&D wings are useful. Rehabbing him back into a rotation player or trade asset is a good idea.
L I was the only one on Clutch City posting that he was an awful signing when we grabbed him. My exact words I posted were “Noooooooooooooo”. 7 ppg career average for 14 million/53 million total contract. Another Stone gem!!!
