Interesting. Fits a need but he also doesn't fit ... How about giving Tommy B the minutes Steve-O had and stealing either Sam or Dean for shooting and spacing? I guess the Rockets have to decide whether they want a guard who is dependable with little offense to offer or a guard with court vision and the ability to score in volume to help the spacing/getting KD+ JS+AS easier shots . I wish first rocket Mike James was 26 and was running the point with handles while getting buckets when necessary. What a time...
The only thing I can imagine is that they want to get off DFS salary now that Okogie has surprised them with his shooting. So an expiring contract and a couple of second rounders could be good for us. We just kept DFS for half a season. Cavs are a lot more desperate for 3&D wings. They could ramp him up for the playoffs. He's been looking more fit recently. I can see us trading Adams because of injury but Cavs really don't need him.
Thomas Bryant and Sam Merrill would be nice gets. Hard to say if Lonzo is having a down year or is a bad fit based on him not playing for a while.
Do Not Want Lonzo. Bad shooter, Bad defender, Broke up. Do Not Want Dinwiddie. Terrible shooter, mediocre defender - He was Washed last season, probably even worse now sitting for almost a year. Dosunmu is top of my list. Alvarado 2nd. Really don't want Schroder or White .... but if you can't do better, I could deal with one of them.
I have more confidence on Fred getting back in playoffs and play pg for us than having Ball available. If we had Fred available and wanted extra minutes of a natural pg off the bench - I would have supported it. But for a team with no current pure pg, it will be too risky sending away one of our players (and a draft capital?) for a guy that tends for injuries.
In terms of production so far this season, Lonzo Ball is basically playing at the same level as DFS. Do we really need another guy shooting 30% from the field?
Because he can't shoot and can't defend. What's the point, may as well ride it out with Reed if that's the case.
I’d rather go get Westbrook on the vet min. He’s averaging 15 / 7 shooting 35% from 3pt on a bad team. Let him run point off bench and let Reed just focus on shooting and getting his confidence up I’d rather let Amen run point than have Lonzo Ball on this team starting lol
Yeah I don't know. I think it's plausible he shoots 34-35% the rest of the reason and functions as a decent backup. But mostly I think the team is surprised by Okogie's effectiveness and are having buyers remorse on DFS. I think they might want an expiring contract and a second rounder.
Before the injury he would have been a perfect target, however current Lonzo is absolutely toast offensively. On a FA minimum deal I wouldn't be interested in him. Only reason this makes any sense is if its a salary matching situation to shed.
I could see Alvarado, maybe. He's always a pest when playing against us. My preference would be Ime starts Reed and develops him into a true PG. I wonder where Fred's at in his rehab...
I really think it boils down to which is more important - ducking the tax or giving this roster a real better chance at winning this year. I think DFS was a mistake, thought that from the day it was announced, that money should have been spent on a guard (that can run the offense).
