Oddly my wife and I took a pre honeymoon 2 weeks before we were married many moons ago.
I went golfing at Tralee Country Club and got so sun burned that I blistered.

I have always had mixed bag.
If it were sunny every day I wouldn't be able to afford to live there.

If it were up to me I would live in Croatia but my wife buys my vodka and makes the important life decisions after I have had my share.

Half the time I think she is BS'ing me that we had a discussion but I'm easy going so I just roll with things and see what happens

You guys could move in with @ima_drummer2k when he sets up house in Gaza. It’s very sunny and very, very cheap.

It’s a real possibility for me as my wife is Croatian and things have gotten pretty unsustainable for us here.

You ever watch House Hunters International?
You can rent an apartment in Cambodia for like 300 a month, I'm sure there is a reason for that.
    But think about it.
That's 3,600 a year. That two freaking mortgage payments. Two!!

These countries pay substantially less post taxes. Income to housing cost ratio is very favorable for the US, especially considering the size of our houses / lot sizes. Yes you can rent an apartment cheap in europe, but try to get a suburban style house with a yard and the prices totally change.

Portugal is my plan. Still trying to convince the wife. I'd love to live in England but it's maybe too expensive and the weather is crap.

I've heard that Portugal has changed their immigration deal slightly but importantly. They're now making it harder for non-Portuguese immigrants to buy any property near the coastline. So look into that and see if you're okay living 100 miles or so inland. (I don't actually know how far.)

If I didn't have parents to look after, I would probably consider heading to Ireland, though the weather there is pretty bad, a lot like Seattle.

I lived in London August to December in the two-thousand aughts. The weather was fine. It snowed one night (a light dusting). It was sunny and warm in the late summer/early fall. It was mild throughout autumn. I don't know where the bad weather in the UK idea comes from. They benefit from the gulf stream. London is roughly on the same latitude as Calgary, but the weather is fine.
