Shawn, take a look at the quote below...

This is very common from the JVG haters. They hope things turn around. And if JVG proves them wrong, then they will support him. But they want it now. So, it's easy to play it safe and cover their butts with this comment. They are saying, "I don't like how he is playing now, don't think it will change, but if he DOES, then I'll support him."

How lazy....what next? Serve it up on a silver platter? Fetch the slippers?

I will support JVG unless he fails to make progress in the play-offs. That is my ultimate measurement. I gave Rudy over 10 years to coach the Rox. And even time to mentor Francis. The only reason that Rudy lasted as long as he did is that we gave him a reprieve after being part of two titles. JVG will get 3-4 years. I'll support him because he IS a Rocket. As long as he improves the team. I'll support him.

I gave Francis 3 years before I turned on him.

Highly unlikely JVG will get fired this season...

With that being said...Is it too early to fire up the old Lottery Generator?

Hopefully, Phil Jackson has League Pass in his cabin up in Montana. I really, really hope Phil Jackson becomes the coach.

Does anyone here think Calvin would be a good coach?? Maybe we could get Jabbar as an asst. I think it could work, of course I am assuming Calvin comes out of his legal trouble smelling somewhat like guest room soap.

DavidS- We hope JVG proves us wrong, because that means we are winning.

No one said anything about supporting JVG only if he wins. I don't care about JVG-I don't give a **** about him. If he can get this team to win, then good for him-that's his job, I'm not going to jump on the guys lap because he got us to the playoffs.

You keep on saying we gave support to Rudy as long as we did because he won us 2 title. So what has JVG done to earn my support? The answer is nothing.

And please don't try to give that "10 games crap." This team has enough pieces to beat the Hawks/Knicks without ever having to play with each other. You don't need to gel to beat terrible teams.

Rockets will be in playoffs as long Yao/TMac are here. They will not be in finals as long as JVG is here.

I dont think that beating either of those teams is an improvement in any way. Sacramento is no where near as effective without Vlade in the middle. I think he was the heart of the team. Memphis obviously isnt as good as last season. I'm not sure what is wrong with them. Maybe last year was just a fluke since they had nothing to lose? They got lucky in lots of late close games.. so maybe its catching up to them. I mean we lost to the Knicks and Atlanta already.. i dont know whats going to happen to this team. I think the only way to go from here is up, so lets all sit back and see what happens... if nothing comes out.. WELCOME PJ!

Phil Jackson looks a bit like some sort of hybrid ostrich-flamingo when he tries to walk. He takes one step and one wonders how he keeps his balance. But balance, in his life, in his beliefs and in the teams he has coached, has made him the winningest coach, percentage-wise, in NBA regular-season and playoff history. His leadership, wisdom and sometimes-philosophical approach have helped make the Los Angeles Lakers the NBA's dominant team for the past three seasons. ''Sometimes you might not know exactly what he's talking about,'' says one of his stars, Kobe Bryant, ''but you still listen.''

Jackson can be described as an eccentric, giving players selected books to read on road trips, each individually picked by him, or splicing movie scenes into game tapes to get his message across. He meditates regularly and, on occasion, has his players do it with him.

Jackson's coaching philosophy centers around players committing their entire selves, not just their athletic selves, to the team.

Unlike many coaches, Jackson usually stays seated on the bench during games. And his idea of emoting is getting this "Have you forgotten how to play this game?" look on his face when his team hits a bad spell. Yet, he rarely calls timeouts in such situations.

"He has a really different approach to coaching than most of the coaches," Jerry Buss says. "Most coaches call timeouts immediately and kind of let the players rely on the coach. In Phil's case, I think he kind of says, 'You have to rely on yourself, because when it comes to crunch time, I'm not out there on the floor with you. I can only do so many things.' "

The only question about Jackson's greatness as a coach is that except for the two-year stint during Jordan's first retirement, he always has had the NBA's best player on his team, and with the Lakers, perhaps the two best. That might be luck — even Jackson acknowledges, "I've been fortunate" — but managing the stars and getting the players around them to fill specific roles is where Jackson is unique.

"Phil was always a very astute person in his conception of the game," DeBusschere says. "He always understood the game of basketball, and to be a good coach, you also have to understand the personalities of the individuals you are motivating. He certainly does that, too."

Jackson spent the 1969-70 season on the Knicks' injured list, but served as a bench coach for Holzman who didn't have an assistant coach at the time.

"I got to watch him very closely," Jackson says. "I was the last one with him before he went out on the floor. He talked philosophy with me and he talked about the importance of staying not too high, not too low and not letting victories or defeats send you tumbling one way or the other. He believed in what was called the middle path. He had the ability to handle individuals and make them play as a group."

He has been known to regale players with tales of the sacred white buffalo of the plains, coach them in meditation techniques and burn sage to reverse a losing streak.

The CBA is where Jackson earned his stripes. Not only did Jackson coach, he drove the van. Late at night he took his band of malcontents and might-have-beens from one basketball outpost to the next, each light-years away from the NBA and anybody who might care about their accomplishments.

And this is the magic of Phil. Somehow, he manages to be at once himself and whatever his players need him to be. In an era when everyone wants to be an emcee, in an environment where the limelight's wattage determines self-worth, Jackson opts for a lower profile. Winning or losing, on the bench his demeanor never strays. At times, it seems as though the game played before him simply distracts him from other, more important mental activities. Like the Wizard of Oz, his machinations remain hidden.

Born to Pentecostal missionaries in North Dakota, Phil Jackson learned the art of manipulation early in life. As a player, his mental grasp of the game far outstretched his physical capabilities. Jackson was oafish and often injured, and opponents feared his sharp elbows more than his sharp shot. Red Holzman, his coach on the New York Knickerbockers, barred him from dribbling the ball.

no new coach will make Ward, JJ, Taylor, Howard quicker more athletic, younger, better shooters or rebounders. We won't hit more 3's and We won't become a good rebounding and fast break team.

I wish JVG was a sweeter guy but he's grumpy and as long as we keep Yao, we need to improve the supporting cast before we will contend.

I don't think firing JVG will solve all of our problems. But at the same time I won't shed too many tears should he go.

If that happens I will hope for any coach to come to the Rockets other than Phil Jackson, or George Karl.

I think we should hire Calvin and Shawn Kemp to coach the offense. Those two guys know how to score...;)
