Their response makes us look like a third world country. Unprofessional and thuggish. Deescalate the situation and cuff him for breaking the law.
Quite a few. A New York Times analysis of internal government records shows that since President Obama took office, two-thirds of the nearly two million deportation cases involve people who had committed minor infractions, including traffic violations, or had no criminal record at all. Twenty percent — or about 394,000 — of the cases involved people convicted of serious crimes, including drug-related offenses, the records show. A growing number of United States citizens have been detained under Obama administration programs intended to detect illegal immigrants who are arrested by local police. In a spate of recent cases across the country, American citizens have been confined in local jails after federal immigration agents, acting on flawed information from Department of Homeland Security databases, instructed the police to hold them for investigation and possible deportation. Americans said their vehement protests that they were citizens went unheard by local police and jailers for days, with no communication with federal immigration agents to clarify the situation. This year the immigration agency has been rapidly extending its leading deportation program, known as Secure Communities, with a goal of covering the whole country by 2013. Detentions of citizens are part of the widening impact on Americans, as well as on immigrants, of President Obama’s enforcement strategies, which have led to more than 1.1 million deportations since the beginning of his term, the highest numbers in six decades. The Obama administration confirmed Monday that it began a new wave of arrests of Central American immigrant families over the weekend, moving forward with deportations of mothers and children despite an outcry from immigrant rights groups. “This past weekend, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) engaged in concerted, nationwide enforcement operations to take into custody and return at a greater rate adults who entered this country illegally with children,” Johnson said. “This should come as no surprise. I have said publicly for months that individuals who constitute enforcement priorities, including families and unaccompanied children, will be removed.” He said President Barack Obama supports deportation of those who recently entered the U.S. illegally. “Certainly, people should take from this the understanding that the administration is quite serious about enforcing our immigration laws.” Johnson said DHS remains focused on deporting “felons, not families” — a curious talking point given that families were the targets of the weekend sweep. Despite calls to halt the deportations and the arrests, Johnson said similar raids will take place in the future. “At my direction, additional enforcement operations such as these will continue to occur as appropriate,” he said. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Janet Napolitano and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Director John Morton today announced record-breaking immigration enforcement statistics achieved under the Obama administration—including unprecedented numbers of convicted criminal alien removals and overall alien removals in fiscal year 2010. "ICE is committed to tough law enforcement that protects the safety and security of the American people," said ICE Director John Morton. "These record-setting numbers are the result of strong, sensible enforcement programs and priorities, and the dedication of thousands of ICE agents and officers who work tirelessly every day to keep our communities safe." In fiscal year 2010, ICE set a record for overall removals of illegal aliens, with more than 392,000 removals nationwide. Half of those removed—more than 195,000—were convicted criminals. The fiscal year 2010 statistics represent increases of more than 23,000 removals overall and 81,000 criminal removals compared to fiscal year 2008—a more than 70 percent increase in removal of criminal aliens from the previous Bush administration. DHS has also expanded the Secure Communities initiative—which uses biometric information and services to identify and remove criminal aliens in state prisons and local jails—from 14 jurisdictions in 2008 to more than 660 today, including all jurisdictions along the Southwest border. DHS is on track to expand this program to all law enforcement jurisdictions nationwide by 2013. This year alone, Secure Communities has resulted in the arrest of more than 59,000 convicted criminal aliens, including more than 21,000 convicted of major violent offenses like murder, rape, and the sexual abuse of children. The Obama administration in 2013 deported a record-breaking 438,421 people, including about 315,000 Mexican nationals, according to government statistics. Immigration reform advocates have criticized the administration for deporting people who have lived in the country for years and have established roots here. Obama administration set a new record for deportations, removing nearly 400,000 undocumented immigrants in the last fiscal year, Immigration and Customs Enforcement announced on Tuesday. The agency removed 396,906 undocumented immigrants from the United States in the 2011 fiscal year, a slight increase from the previous year’s 392,826 removals. Administration officials said the increase is the result of a continued focus on policing undocumented immigration. ICE Director John Morton said in a statement. “These year-end totals indicate that we are making progress, with more convicted criminals, recent border crossers, egregious immigration law violators and immigration fugitives being removed from the country than ever before.” Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said after the announcement that the agency would continue to deport a consistent number of unauthorized immigrants, but the deportation figures would include a larger number of immigrants who have committed serious crimes. “The numbers are going to be very robust in terms of numbers of removal — we don’t fool around about this,” “Our border enforcement is second to none.” The 2011 figures show slightly more undocumented immigrants who have committed crimes were deported last year than in the prior year. ICE reported that 216,698 of the unauthorized immigrants removed in the 2011 fiscal year were convicted of felonies or misdemeanors, making up about 55 percent of the total removals. In the 2010 fiscal year, the 195,772 undocumented immigrants who had been charged with crimes — almost 50 percent of the total removal figure — were deported. So far, the administration seems likely to continue to push for nearly 400,000 deportations per year, which enforcement officials say is the most they can remove under current funding levels. If Congress wants to see more deportations, Morton and Napolitano have said it should increase funding to Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Napolitano said in August, “Congress should look at numbers if they want more deportations.” President Obama requested emergency supplemental funding to support a unified, comprehensive Federal Government response to the influx of child and adult migration from Central America in the Rio Grande Valley. Congress’s failure to act will undercut our ability to continue to effectively and efficiently address the situation. The Obama dministration has dedicated unprecedented resources to secure the border including historic investments in manpower, technology and infrastructure. Right now, there are more Border Patrol agents and surveillance resources on the ground than at any time in our history. Since 2004, the number of “boots on the ground” along the Southwest border has increased by 94% to nearly 21,000 Border Patrol Agents today. We have staffed up technology, fencing, and aerial assets to monitor and detect illicit activity. The number of mobile surveillance systems deployed to the border has nearly doubled from 2006 to over 12,000 mobile systems today, with more systems in the pipeline for deployment in the coming year. DHS has completed 651 miles of fencing along the Southwest border. This includes 299 miles of vehicle barriers and 352 miles of pedestrian fence. News dropped last week that the Obama administration was planning a month-long “surge” of immigration raids targeting Central American mothers and children. Although it is difficult to get exact numbers, some estimates show Immigration and Customs Enforcement home raids have never resulted in more than 30,000 apprehensions in any given year. Obama said, Even as we are a nation of immigrants, we’re also a nation of laws. Undocumented workers broke our immigration laws, and I believe that they must be held accountable -– especially those who may be dangerous." https://www.politico.com/story/2016/01/obama-family-deportation-raids-217329 https://www.dhs.gov/archive/news/20...d-breaking-immigration-enforcement-statistics
As tear gas and flash bangs filled a south Minneapolis block Saturday, help came from an unexpected place. Federal officers deployed tear gas and flash bangs near 27th Street and Nicollet Avenue, less than a block from where Alex Pretti had been killed about an hour earlier. The sudden explosion of chemical agents sent people scrambling for safety. As chaos unfolded outside, refuge appeared behind a restaurant door. Tracy Wong, the owner of My Huong Kitchen, ushered protestors gasping for breath inside. “Come in here. Be safe, be safe,” Wong said, visibly shaken but determined to help. Wong took in many throughout the day, offering water, comfort and a place to recover. “I’m so nervous, scared, scared, but I’m so happy,” Wong said. "Happy to help." What began as a frightening moment turned into an extraordinary display of compassion. Video of Wong opening her restaurant to people fleeing tear gas was shared hundreds of thousands of times online. “All the states call me up and say, ‘Thank you,’ say that I am American hero and angel,” Wong said. “I say, ‘Wow, I didn’t expect that.’ I just love to help people.” The attention was overwhelming for the longtime small business owner, who said she and her family came to the United States in 1979 and have struggled for years running a restaurant on Eat Street. Wong said as a U.S citizen and immigrant, she felt heartbroken but hopeful. “The United States is a beautiful country,” she said. “So I’m kind of, like, a little bit disappointed it turned down like this. I don’t believe it, but I still love the United States.” When My Huong Kitchen reopened for its first day of business since Saturday, the restaurant quickly filled again, but this time, customers weren’t seeking refuge. “We’re here to support her,” one customer said. Another patron said they chose the restaurant specifically because of Wong’s kindness toward protesters. “I wanted to use your restaurant because you’re so kind to protesters,” the customer said before hugging Wong. Some customers had been among those fleeing tear gas days earlier. “They rushed the whole crowd,” Norb Domek said, recalling when chemical irritants filled the street Saturday. “Tear gas was behind me, in front of me. But luckily someone was here opening the door saying, ‘Come in, come in.’” Comek returned to repay the kindness with a full meal and a generous tip. “That’s why I came back,” they said. “I thought I would at least give them a big tip for allowing us some safety on Saturday.” The lunch rush was heavier than a usual Tuesday, customers patiently waited for a table and crowded into the lobby to order takeout. As the restaurant bustled, Wong reflected simply on her actions. “I love to help people,” she said. Now, customers say they’re here to help her. To support my Huong Kitchen, visit their GoFundMe. I’ll just put this here. District Judge on ICE, January 28, 2026: "Attached to this order is an appendix that identifies 96 court orders that ICE has violated in 74 cases. The extent of ICE’s noncompliance is almost certainly substantially understated. This list is confined to orders issued since January 1, 2026, and the list was hurriedly compiled by extraordinarily busy judges. Undoubtedly, mistakes were made, and orders that should have appeared on this list were omitted" "ICE has likely violated more court orders in January 2026 than some federal agencies have violated in their entire existence." "ICE is not a law unto itself. ICE has every right to challenge the orders of this Court, but, like any litigant, ICE must follow those orders unless and until they are overturned or vacated" gov.uscourts.mnd.230171.10.0_1.pdf
Does this judge not realize Biden left the gate open for 4 years? Old man forgot to lock it and 20 million white walkers came in.
@tmacfor35 @Salvy @Os Trigonum @RB713 so many Timberwolves fans here! They are like Lin fans who like to bother law enforcement
hey jerry Lin is a rockets legend. 2 very exciting seasons in 12-13 and 13-14 , helped harden get us back to the playoffs . and we traded him to clear up space ( looking for bosh ) that we used on ariza and had one of our best seasons of all time in 14-15.
Flame away, but I think that video of Alex Pretti is fake. Which is the exact issue I've been trying to bring up. I mentioned it in another thread I started, and I've mentioned it to most of my friends and family. If it's proven to be fake, and even if it's not, but is actually fake, we've crossed a governmental threshold that we can never retrace back. I want to see some other angles. And until I see other angles, I won't believe it. Even those can be faked as well. But with the way these protests are going, there are multiple angles of everything. Better yet, give me some body cam footage. Obviously there is more information coming out, and this is a hot take, and I will change my opinion and admit I was wrong if I feel I was, but I have no reason to believe anything this administration says or does at the current time. Especially when it comes to these issues. The family's lawyer says this happened week before he was murdered. In reality it happened 11 days before, which is closer to 2 weeks before. A lawyer should not be scant or vague on the details. Not only that, but doesn't Trump have a history of throwing money at his problems. What if he threw $100 million at the family to make this go away? All they have to do is put out a statement and then go live. Their lives quietly and never worry about a thing? I would hope my family wouldn't do that, but I wouldn't blame him if they did. All I'm saying, is, as I've said in the past, the entire country should be skeptical of this thing. Why did it take so long to come out? Why was this not just some random video that the right-wingers in this thread weren't spamming it with from Twitter? I've seen plenty of more innocuous ones. I don't have the best sniffer, but this doesn't immediately pass my sniff test. As I said, this may sound a little unhinged to some of you, and I accept that, and I'll admit if I was wrong, but I don't even know if we'll truly ever know the truth about the video. It's also odd to me that he's wearing the same exact outfit? I guess these paid agitators have protest uniforms they have to wear....
I am not sure what a SPATE is . . . quantitatively. But it does not seem to be ICE dragging people out of their cars No Knock Warrents and masked thugs It's the local PDs Honestly It just doesn't matter Nothing they can show me will justify his murder Rocket River First they kill the body Then they kill the Reputation
What kind of a man puts on a mask, body armor and grabs his high powered rifles & torture implements and hides in a school van to go terrorize local school children Triick question, it's no man it's gestapo piece of trash b**** henchmen of the pedo cabal- that's who
@Two Sandwiches Not saying It is real , but I wouldn't use the clothing as reasoning I moved up north and I wear the same jacket everyday
It doesn't matter whether it's fake or not because it isn't relevant. That being said, the most odd thing/unbelievable thing about it is that it would have resulted in him being arrested, which apparently he wasn't.
Spate- a large number of similar things, especially bad things, happening in quick succession. I didn't share anything about justifying the shootings of Pretti & Good. Both incidents should be investigated like all law enforcement shootings and, if evidence shows that the agents were unjustified in discharging their weapons, then charges should be brought against them. Do we know all the details, yet? Was it Pretti's own gun that accidentally discharged when agents tried to disarm him of his weapon and fully loaded magazines? Was it his second or third violent run-in with federal agents? Is that Pretti attacking agents and breaking the taillight on the vehicle? Did he return to the scene with his Sig and loads of ammunition with intentions of using it? As for Good, at first I thought the shooting was unjustified. Personally, I don't think the agent should have fired into her vehicle. He probably could have stepped to the side, but that is a split second decision by a law enforcement officer who is putting his life on the line. She had already shown erratic behavior, a refusal of commands by federal agents surrounding her vehicle and then made the decision to flee and endanger officers whether intentional or not. They didn't even know if she was armed with a gun herself. I would strongly advise against doing what Good did. Personally, I have never tried to flee from law enforcement and certainly wouldn't try it if I were surrounded by multiple federal agents and one was standing directly in front of my vehicle. I have been profiled, harassed and unfairly treated by law enforcement more than once and am still here to tell you about it. Both shootings are tragic. Investigate them. But, to pretend that ICE and immigration enforcement is any different now than under Obama, who I voted for twice, is just not true.
