Get Freeling at 1-28 and Rutledge at 2-38, plus sign Mays in FA and re-sign Ingram. This OL would look so much better.
First Team All American...........................this is the guy I want, plug and play for a decade (wish and hope)
I will keep pounding the table at this - whether people think Stroud can turn around or not, it's almost a certainty he will not if we don't address his weapons. We keep grabbing weapons later in the draft than most or we do it once, wait years, and then do it again. Meanwhile, other teams are routinely grabbing weapons in the first two rounds and the hit rate starts to pay off. The biggest mistake I feel like we keep making is drafting solely for immediate need. We do need OL, but we keep treating the draft as needing to invest there as well as FA without any foresight to future years it would appear. Now, we shouldn't be the old Lions when they just kept picking WRs in the first round year after year, but look at what the Bears have done for their young QB. They got some veteran presence in the door with Swift and Moore via FA and trades (ignore OL here temporarily, but yes, them too), and then started to attack the weapons yearly - Kmet, Odunze, Loveland, Burden, Monangai. Now Caleb is still on his rookie deal, but they are to the point where they can refine their drafts for subtle gaps (and I suspect they'll still invest in weapons).
I don’t mind if Nick trades our pick at #28. I do hope that we go heavy on offensive help. I'd like us to go OG, C, RB, TE, WR, in our first 5 picks.
I'm a bit more optimistic than I was earlier about this tight-end class. It's possible that there are several that might be decent receivers AND blockers. To me, any tight-end that isn't good at pass protection and run-blocking is a big NO for me. I was never high on Sadiq for those exact reasons. Maybe his poor blocking skills explains his poor PFF grades in big games.
I initially was in favor of Stowers at tight end but after seeing Klein from Michigan...I think he's going to be the star tight end from this draft.
