Today's sudden changes are, I think, more about messaging than method as this post shows. I have a hard time believing this is any kind of major change in strategy or a significant retreat. Fact is, Bovino was reviled by a huge majority of Americans and had to have a horrible Q rating. Noem has become a joke. Same with Ka$h. Now, we have Homan coming in and he's even worse on camera than those other losers, but he is a change. This is, however, another data point that MAGA is done. They all tried to be like Trump, to lie like Trump, to provoke like Trump, and they all failed miserably. They don't have his charisma and neither do his sons, Vance, Cruz, or anyone else. Like all cults of personality, it's not sustainable. If we have honest elections, they are cooked.
@Salvy @ROXRAN @RB713 @Kemahkeith @pgabriel @mvpcrossxover woke people have a sonic weapon too Spoiler
totally agree on your first paragraph. its about messaging. i dont foresee any policy changes. if anything, theyre going to keep doubling down. agree on your second paragraph. its a cult of personality and none of the others have whatever it is that attracts people to trump. they try really hard, but it just comes off as awkward. and when trump dies all those rats are going to start turning on each other. at this point i dont think we are going to have elections this year. everything going on is about setting up a pretext to impose martial law and cancelling elections. or any excuse to suspend them or claim that voter fraud is imminent. the chaos is by design...its what they want. texas handed over its voter rolls to the feds. the attorney general told minnesota that they would pull ICE of the state if they handed over their voter rolls...doesnt that tell us all that its not really about getting illegals out? we have about 1/3rd of this country (including many posters here) who have turned on democracy. they dont want free and fair elections. they are authoritarians who want an authoritarian leader. and if they dont get their way they cry voter fraud and cheer-lead insurrection.
I was being charitable in not denying the “shove” characterization. I just it’s odd that the instinct of the person who asked this question was to put the onus on the victim of what he should have done differently, rather than the officers who recklessly shot him and clearly also escalated the situation needlessly. How is it that supposedly trained officials are given the most latitude when it comes to reckless behavior that endangers the public?
Would she have still been alive if she didnt decide to go on a run in the evening, dressed up all provocatively? Thats how stupid u victim blaming sound when talking about Alex Pretti
These “ICE deportations” are not coming from raids. These are more normal deportations under the normal infrastructure here in the state. There has been very little ICE insurgency presence in Texas, and Florida. We are here and see none of it. I got to Home Depot often and see no ice officials. The immigrant worker community here is still working and active. That is simply because Trump is allied with Gov Abbott and DeSantis and Republicans running a state understand what it would mean to disrupt their economy by mass deporting the immigrant workers, and they understand what terrible politics it would be for them and how it would turn more independent voters from them. There’s a reason why Bovino was in Minneapolis only and now Homen is going to Minneapolis. Like this is obviously not an organization that can focus on raids across the country. Minneapolis is a decent sized city but it is nothing compared to most of the larger US cities in size. When you go East of the airport you are immediately in the sticks. It’s not that big and it’s easier to maintain a presence. There’s a reason they left Chicago too. They know that city is waaayyy too big.
I agree with this completely. And also, they will all soon start to realize that the axe will be quick to fall on anyone not named Trump, and that the only person shielded from the axe is named Donald Trump.
That is true we could keep going. But again, It all comes down to people in this country defending illegal immigrants who came here illegally. Wanting them to stay when most of America has voted for them to be taken back. I've made my comments here about amnesty and what I feel the right thing is to do but no matter how you feel about it. I am not going to break the law to defend people getting taken by federal law enforcement.
Great piece reported from MN on how ordinary people (and not worthless elites) fight the ICE gestapo https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2...opy-link&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=share The federal agents sent to Minnesota wear body armor and masks, and bear long guns and sidearms. But their skittishness and brutality are qualities associated with fear, not resolve. It takes far more courage to stare down the barrel of a gun while you’re armed with only a whistle and a phone than it does to point a gun at an unarmed protester. Every social theory undergirding Trumpism has been broken on the steel of Minnesotan resolve. The multiracial community in Minneapolis was supposed to shatter. It did not. It held until Bovino was forced out of the Twin Cities with his long coat between his legs. The secret fear of the morally depraved is that virtue is actually common, and that they’re the ones who are alone. In Minnesota, all of the ideological cornerstones of MAGA have been proved false at once. Minnesotans, not the armed thugs of ICE and the Border Patrol, are brave. Minnesotans have shown that their community is socially cohesive—because of its diversity and not in spite of it. Minnesotans have found and loved one another in a world atomized by social media, where empty men have tried to fill their lonely soul with lies about their own inherent superiority. Minnesotans have preserved everything worthwhile about “Western civilization,” while armed brutes try to tear it down by force. No matter how many more armed men Trump sends to impose his will on the people of Minnesota, all he can do is accentuate their valor. No application of armed violence can make the men with guns as heroic as the people who choose to stand in their path with empty hands in defense of their neighbors. These agents, and the president who sent them, are no one’s heroes, no one’s saviors—just men with guns who have to hide their faces to shoot a mom in the face, and a nurse in the back.
