Not that I have sympathy for people who go out on iced-over freeways that don't get treated to watch a damn basketball game, but .... a lot of what fell in the DFW area was ice/sleet/freezing rain initially and then some snow. So they're basically trying to drive on a layer of ice on roadways that look like they haven't been treated or didn't treat very well. Welcome to Texas! Stay inside.
Sunny and 75 degrees. Beautiful day. Doors open with a breeze of fresh air. how is the weather where you all are
Houston: Much ado about nothing. On a side note, I live to close to work to say "Ice" on the roads...If I lived in Katy, for sure lol
The one thing that was great about yesterday was NO TRAFFIC. We Houstonians tend to overreact to the cold, hell while at Target on Saturday you would have thought we were going to be locked down for a week, H2O was nonexistence and what's up with people hoarding toilet paper? PTSD over Covid? For real though, this cold is BS..................I am not built for weather under 60 degrees
I love it. Just not freezing. Highs in the 60's and lows in the 40's is perfect. That sweet spot when you don't have to run your AC OR your heater.
If your pipes are blowing up that often, can you just cut off water to the house and open up your faucets to drain them for a day or two?
I want winter weather in winter. I enjoy cold because the springs and summers in Texas are a PITA. It's one reason I'm not sure I could live year-round in a place like San Diego, as beautiful as it may be. I like temps in the 30s in the winter with highs maybe in the 50s-60s. I don't really want snow, and I definitely don't want ice. That 80-degree crap in December was disgusting. Walking around in a swamp when it should be nice and cool/cold around Christmas time... joy!
Idk, I mean I guess the only "bad" thing about it is that my department put us in a bad place to deal with it. Work from home got made into a political discussion (read: where thought and nuance go to suffer) so now we aren't allowed to wfh, even when a disaster is declared, even when school districts are closed, even when the danger is clear and present. I can't leave my child at home. I am not willing to put myself and my family at risk to brave elements that I am not used to managing. I am willing, and would happily work from home but my employer thinks "because I said so" is something you can tell other adults. I can't make chicken salad with these ingredients, chef.
