If you're talking about NFL Barbie, his brains have been questioned since about halfway through his rookie year.
Deb, the last sentence in your post is exactly what I want, someone who is mentally and physically tough that will do whatever is necessary to get that next yard when it seems impossible. IMO a guy like Baker Mayfield may not have all the "tools", but the kid is so mentally tough its hard to root against him, I compare Baker to Bo Nix who will be better IMO and just seems to have "IT"..........then you have guys like Drake Mayes, Daniels of the Redskins and so many quality young QB`s and I think CJ is now behind all of them..................2 years ago he was the best of all of them. IMO the front office has failed him and at the same time CJ has failed, I undervalued the cognitive scores on his testing. I am not saying he is dumb, but he doesn't seem to grasp reads or how to get out of them and change the play. His body language says so much about him that it pisses me off..............if the front office does not address this problem, I am afraid we will be looking for a QB in 2028
What about that a**hole from Vanderbilt. We could probably get him in the 6th round. Worth a shot. He absolutely would not cower on the bench pouting between series. Or we could go full Bobby Douglas and get a run only QB and a bell cow RB and just bludgeon everybody.
The way he plays he’s gonna need a spleen replacement after week 7. Also, I think he may be a better RB than QB in the pros.
But I would trade or QB for him straight up at this point. Might even throw in an additional pick. This speaks volumes about my thinking that Stroud can get back to his old self. I have two words for everyone here. DAVID CARR Once you get them happy feet you don't get rid of them. I know David was not a football gym rat but still.
Carr didn't care AT ALL about the team or about football. He would've failed anywhere under any circumstances. He can go to hell.
There was a post about this on Reddit. It was from 3 years ago when he was drafted and a lot of the criticisms that were made about CJ then are the same as what you're hearing about him now. BTW, Reddit is full CJ meltdown mode and it's only been one week. Cannot imagine what things will look like come August.
Sooo, the plan going forward is to let the same people responsible for CJ's decline be the ones tasked with fixing their collective f*ck up. Sounds like a plan...
Simply put, Stroud is a guy who can be rattled. Even in his rookie year, he was having trouble when the game script doesn't go his way. But things have gotten worse as defenses became more aware of his weaknesses, and the Texans lack the personnel/scheme/whatever else to minimize his weaknesses. In the end, either Stroud needs to take another step or the offensive talent needs to do so. Whether that can happen or not? Who knows. Especially since Stroud and WAJ are both going to be a hell of a lot more expensive after next year's end of their rookie deals.
I STILL say CJ needs a thorough neurological exam. Are there residuals from the last concussion? Yes, the situation is complex. Personality factors are also part of the problem. BUT if he is still experiencing concussion symptoms however mild everyone on the Texans need to know.
