The two best teams in the NFL just had what we used to call a "barn burner" back in the day. Much respect to the Rams, especially to Sean McVay and Matthew Stafford. I love their team. I watched the Seahawks all year. Mike Macdonald is an amazing coach. When Sam Darnold shows up like this, they are incredibly hard to beat. I hope plays like this in two weeks. I hope after this game everyone finally realizes just how great JSN is.
Sam Darnold about to tear his pec or get healthy and pull a Sam Darnold. In all seriousness, I think Seattle dominates but I just don’t trust Darnold
This is 100% the problem. Seattle I think is hands down the best team in the league. Their kryptonite seamed to be the Rams, despite the wild win in Seattle in week 14 or whatever, but they got through that tonight. Howeva, Sam Darnold. Yes I know he was fantastic today.
Never saw that one - that was great. “If there was a good, he wouldn’t have let me get called for intentional grounding” is perfect.
Gotta be tough for the Vikings (Justin Jefferson in particular) to watch Darnold in the Superbowl. O'Connell was probably convinced he could repeat his team's offensive production with different QBs, but they really should have just paid Darnold and ran it back.
Well, I gotta say, even with my well-earned reputation as an NFL prediction failure, here goes: * Seahawks easily cover the spread, (win by 4 or more), AND * together the teams will score fewer than 45. (take the under) I believe the Pasty-uts score 10 or fewer points, and lose in a Super-snooze. Darnold doesn't even have to do that much other than hand off and throw a few check-downs. Bet accordingly, everyone. You have B-Bob's ice cold sewer pipe lock! (Watch the spread shift immediately, haha).
It's hard for people to remember, but Darnold was considered the complete package coming out of USC. A few years later, there was a reason so many pundits pleaded for the Jets NOT to draft Zach Wilson at #2, but instead keep Darnold, trade down and draft 2-3 starters for their weak roster. I think everyone has forgotten his years in Carolina. I saw him get some mop up duty during his season with the 49ers. It certainly wasn't anything special, but I think that one year with Kyle Shanahan turned him around and laid a foundation for what he did with the Vikings. Vikings wish they could have a do over. I remember Kevin O'Connell (who I like a lot) speaking of Darnold in the past tense during his post-game presser after losing to the Rams. Darnold started all 17 regular season games and put up 35/12 and 4,300 yards for them. Yikes!
[Michael F. Florio] Drake Maye has a -17.7 EPA as a passer in the playoffs. That is the worst of any conference winning QB in the NextGenStats era (since 2016). The only other QB to post negative was Jimmy Garoppolo in 2019 (-0.9)
