Generously speaking, Sengun, while not perfect, is a top 30 NBA player. KD still a top 15. To keep on the ascension path, you want to add (not subtract). At the very least three top 30 players (two ideally top 25), to realistically contend.

The hope is one of the other young cores ascend. Unless you can flip Sengun for a top 5 or two top 30's, the conversation is moot.

Alternatively Stone can flip the other guy(s) to get that third top 30, to join KD and Sengun. But that's such a push in-the-chips-now type of move. We got a blockbuster KD just last summer, let the pie bake in the oven before doing more drastic changes. Plus finance is very tight at first apron.

I expect a quiet trade deadline for the Red & Yellow.

It's less that I want Barnes (or his salary), it's that, the word untouchable gets thrown around carelessly, when there are many players still ahead of the 'untouchable'. Our young guys need to stay humble and hungry, there are lot of growing left to do.
