How does he not? He’s already a fantastic player with lots of room to grow and he’s shown flashes with games where he’s hitting consistently hitting from midrange and three, he is already unstoppable in the post, he’s a great passer, and a good positional defender. Did I mention he’s only 23? There’s a reason fellow players speak so highly of him.
How would you feel about: To HOU: Anteokounmpo, Bobby Portis To MIL: Sengun, Tari Eason, Steven Adams, DFS, both PHX picks, DAL pick (three 1sts in total) I added Portis for DFS because the Rockets will need size after this deal. Tari is in the deal not only for salary matching, but also because I don't think the Rockets can afford to pay him while also extending Giannis.
I wouldn't trade Sengun, but if I was considering it then I wouldn't trade him for someone who can't shoot. That just leads to some of the same issues we have now. Giannis and Amen are a bit similar offensively and neither shoots 3's well. Why would we do this?
Dude, what has been your issue lately? You've been super annoying with your takes about our young players. Do I think Sengun will be a Top 5 player? No. But is it impossible? No way. He's arguably ahead of where guys like Joker, Steph, Shai, etc. were at 23. The fact that he very well might make an All NBA team at 23 is pretty remarkable. Enough with the snarky bashing of others for their opinions. I get you're going off the emotional deep end - how about you don't try to pull others down with you.
Is the OP's original assertion basically moot now that Giannis is faking another injury injured again? You have to love it: "I will not ask for a trade. (sotto voce) That's why I have an agent." And then when his agent presents to him a potential trade the Bucks are discussing that he doesn't like: (clutching "injury") "Ow! Ow! My quad!" "That's your calf." (clutching elsewhere) "Ow! Ow! My calf!" (This is all annoying speculation on my part, btw.)
There has been a really funny debate in this thread. The truth is this: when the playoffs start and we see Şengün leading the entire team in rebounds, assists, blocks, and points (except for KD), we’ll be rereading these posts and laughing at them. And that time isn’t far away. Why would this guy push himself to the limit during the regular season? Are you crazy? Instead of making ridiculous assumptions, you should be praying that he enters the playoffs healthy.
Jalen doesn’t have it Brickari sucks Sengun for Giannis *and may not be wrong on Sengun but not for Yannis **you can talk me into trading anyone on the current team. Just depends on what’s coming back. I trust Mrs Sheppard’s work like I trust her son. @RB713
I think it's just people assuming he learns how to shoot. I personally don't think he's ever going to be able to shoot. But to entertain the hypothetical here, where would you put him if he could shoot? Lets say 45% on midrange, 38% on 3s, 80% on free throws. Nothing else about him changes. I think this at the very least a top 10 or even top 8 player?
That's at Jokic's MVP level of efficiency. (Jokic has since improved from that. Can you imagine!) And he'll have to increase his rebounding and assisting rate to get to MVP level. But he'd be a top 5 player just by achieving the scoring efficiency.
Sure, he would be in that category, but with those percentages, he would be 1 of the best big man shooters in the NBA and one of the better shooters in the league in general. if we’re just gonna upscale players to that degree, then a ton of guys have “top 5 potential”
This shouldn't have ever been a question. The best 2-way player possibly ever for a poor man's Luis Scola?
Not really, Jokic scores 75-80% inside 3 feet, Sengun shoots in the mid-high 60s. Also Jokic scores over 60% in the 3-10 foot range, Sengun is in the 40s. So no, he really wouldn't be anywhere close to Jokic level efficiency. He would be closer than he is now, obviously, but not up to the Jokic level.
Maybe the numbers I gave were a little high, but like, he has shown shooting talent. At this point I think it's unlikely but during his rookie year and also watching his Turkish league highlights, I thought it was possible. He was making Dirk level shots when he was 19, I thought there was a decent chance that he would improve his shooting. It's not like it's out of the blue like "what if Amen could shoot like Steph" or "what if Jabari had Kyrie's handle". There's at least something there that you can see and hope for. Again I don't think he's ever going to learn how to shoot, but I can see why his fans think it's still possible.
top 5 player potential basically means MVP caliber player potential to me…seems like pure delusion rather than hope atp 3rd straight year of no improvement in his shooting whatsoever 54.5% TS as a 6’11 scoring big last year which was similar to Jalen Green this year, still way below average at just 56.4%…and he’s not even a #1 option
Giannis is quicker off the dribble from the perimeter. He can run the break better. Better defensively. As I said before. Get Giannis and Turner and we will the championship. No doubt.
