I think Caley did better in playoffs than he did in season. But better is relative and the offense was not objectively good compared to other offenses. Certainly the triggerman was a problem. But so was Caley. And the decision to hire Caley. And the decision to field an incompetent OL. And the decision to not have more speed and weapons at RB. Caserio and Caley have done nothing to put Stroud in best position to succeed.

It was a DUMB game plan without Nico. Stroud could have not threw the picks...but help a Brotha out...

Short answer to this question - an open and honest QB competition. I think we either need to attempt to draft a project mobile QB to test a different strategy or go after a clone pocket passer to signal if he doesn't get his act together, we're moving on.

It's time to put some honest, competitive pressure back in our QB room. Mills performed admirably as a backup, but I don't think CJ (or Mills) perceives him as a threat. It might be a good idea to put a threat into the room so CJ is forced to get it together or get out.

 

Or Build your Oline up and find a running game. The problem is would no running game, your QB is under so much pressure to make plays. Why not make it easier for whoever the QB is?

Competitive pressure has NEVER worked at QB in the NFL. It just keeps your QB looking over his shoulder instead of focusing on improving the offense.

It's awesome that Kubiak could run an offense/OL...but Frank Bush et al never could coach a D.

You need all of it. OL could improve, agreed, but that is every team in the NFL.

By the playoffs, all teams are working through injuries. If the only time he can perform is when everything is perfect, he’s not our answer. The off target throws were not all the OL’s fault. Solely pointing to everyone but CJ also does him no favors. The coaches need to make it clear - get better or get out. Everyone needs to stop coddling him.

This is what fans do - they turn a small sample into the standard. The Texans should be concerned about the two games; they should also remember that Stroud's body of work is three seasons and it has been, overall, good.

Two things can be concurrently true: CJ Stroud was bad in the playoff games; the offense around him made *everything* more difficult. Keep in mind, there's a better than zero chance that what we saw from Stroud, at least to some degree, was 18 months of terrible offensive line play finally taking a toll. He did not look comfortable. That doesn' just happen.

 

I see what you're saying... But the Patriots were stacking the line and forcing the pass.. Now I do agree with you on the game plan, this entire year the OC never adjusted to pressure or his game plan. With the weather being another factor that means the long drawn out routes get throwed away and focus on 3 to 5 yard plays..

The game plan should have been Punt or Field Goal.. Play ball position, especially with the type of defense you have.. A TD is just a bonus.
