He's now played 1700 minutes in the NBA, you'd expect over 2000 in a typical season.... does that help you follow along?

Most nba player improvement occurs in the offseason. Calling reed a rookie is as idiotic as when dd says sengun is actually in his 9th season or whatever he says because of him playing in Europe.

Yea man, let me call myself a rookie this season that just didn’t play any NBA minutes and chose to spend time away from the team.

then when I workout this summer and get my first minute I can call myself a 2nd year player, since as we all know.. most improvement happens in the off season (not doubting this is the case WHEN you have experience to compound from and actually learn)

Most demanding and high risk/stakes jobs have very strict hrs/apprenticeship cut offs minimum. I would actually say pretty much all of them because there is no substitute for on the job experience

I swear, some of you should say things quietly in your head before typing it out. The irony of thinking something was idiotic, only to say something many fold more idiotic

Being a rookie or not a rookie isn’t an opinion. If you have played in an nba game ever, you are not a rookie. Is he eligible for ROY?

It’s almost as if the point went completely over your head

do some research on the meaning of the word de facto

Reed needs to continue to attack attack attack! He’s hesitant to drive into the lane, but I want to see more of it. He hasn’t learned how to create contact and draw fouls yet. But when he does, he will be unstoppable. He has the ability to pull up in the paint for the short jumper. He can drive and kick it out to the perimeter. He’s learning how to get to the basket. He should be the lead dog running the offense.

Last season with the Vipers he showed he has the ability to be an aggressive do everything point guard. Now, he needs to bring that aggressiveness to the NBA on a nightly basis. He’s still learning so there will be some rough patches, but he needs to just have confidence and let it all hang out.

So because he couldn’t crack the rotation and kept getting sent to the g-league last year that makes him a rookie? You’re silly

He had a horrible rookie campaign and now that he’s finally got some traction and getting playing time you consider this his rookie season. You and the other stooges have a boy crush on Reed.

Because Ime was too dumb to play him in his actual rookie season, he is just now getting about what playing time a rookie would have in about 3/4 of one season, thus he can be seen as a de facto rookie.

It's okay that the concept goes over your head, the world needs ditch diggers too.

    Think harder...almost there!!

Guy that played highschool basketball just over a year prior to his first NBA minutes not used to the NBA pace and physicality... Said guy gets a couple of real games under his belt and then solidifies we he was the #3 pick... more at 11.

Some rookies are NBA-ready and earn starter minutes while others aren’t ready to get much burn. Just because Reed fit into the latter doesn’t make him a “de facto” rookie now.

Nothing you say could ever go over my head so miss me with your bullshit.

So that same logic doesn’t apply to most rookies coming into the league?

You're 100% wrong and completely missing it, didn't you see how every other top player just came out and looked like MJ on the floor when they were drafted?!

That's why Curry took all of Monta's minutes...err oh wait

That's why James Harden averaged over 10ppg ...err oh wait

Sure, but it had nothing to do with being "ready", it was just more of Ime being a complete moron.

Also, it seems you don't know what "de facto" means....which is pretty embarrassing. Perhaps I shouldn't have insulted ditch diggers suggesting you might have the cognitive ability to be one.

This guy thinks people are having a hard time understanding what he means. No you’re just wrong. He’s not a de facto rookie just because you said he is.

Chet Holmgren and Julius Randle would be considered de facto rookies their second seasons because you know… they got hurt the first game of their rookie season. Someone who looked shaky in 52 games while averaging almost 13 minutes doesn’t fit the criteria.

Very true, and if they aren't playing like prime MJ from the first time they step on the court, their coach should play them only 650 minutes all season and say "they weren't ready"
