I remember him most when he coached the Boston Celtics to the NBA Finals. When that team decided to play defense, they turned it around and got the finals. You don’t recall that?
I never said he was a bad coach, just that he sucked as a player on (well) Offense..... and he has trouble coaching the Rox and their Offense. Him being on the Celtics with Mazzulla and Will Hardy had nothing to do with Houston unless you mean that secks scandal made him available.
The people saying he should be investigated aren't far wrong, he's so incompetent with his rotations he looks like he's fixing games.
Yeah. Indiana was a mediocre defensive team last year in the regular season, ranked 14th DRtg. They played much better defense in the playoffs. The 111.6 would put them 8th in the league. Everybody plays better defense in the playoffs. The question is, does your offense have enough fire power to beat the heightened defense. It's shortsighted to not nurture offensive chemistry during the regular season. That's why I advocate starting Reed. You need those guys ready to play together in the playoffs. You want to smooth out all the wrinkles now.
Reed’s defensive flaws are not bad enough to prevent him from playing. It’s funny that we can be 29th out of 30 teams in turnovers, have amen trip over his own feet on offense, but he is allowed an unlimited number of mistakes on that side of the ball. On the other hand, Reed gets blown by a few times and he is immediately glued to the bench. it is bad coaching. Period. And that is saying nothing about the extreme overuse of KD and Jabari
With all the corruption being exposed everywhere it wouldn't surprise me in the least. The fact that the dude cheated on Nia Long (unfathomable) with a Celtic's executive's wife goes to show the workings of this dudes mind. Something is twisted in there and these on court decisions he's making are backwards. Starting to think we need to move on from him and promote Ivey.
5 Okogie's = would be 27.5 PPG, 14.9 RPG? Just multiple his stats by 5? Or is that intellectually lazy?
Literally - outscoring your opponent is how you win games. There is a positive trend associated with the margin you outscore your opponent from game to game. Being very good at both scoring and limiting your opponent from scoring is how teams typically win in the playoffs in the National Basketball Association. If a team is poor at scoring - they end up losing in the first round, like the Rockets did last year.
Explain a first round loss against a 7th seed? you want me to prove my own point? You’re not very bright—“2nd in the west” is not the accomplishment dummy. The RS is full of low intensity play, resting etc. we measure success in the post season which was a failure
Reed is about as bad on defense as another player in the starting lineup but no one really wants to talk about that. One who was basically impersonating Game 7 4th Quarter Harden at times with the turnovers.
5 Okogies would limit their opponents to under 25 ppg, a 5 Okogie squad would go 82-0 and sweep the playoffs . . . THE KEY TO A CHAMPIONSHIP FORMULA, BABY!!!
I think Reed needs to start. What I've seen from him has been encouraging. The bigger takeaway for me is that a lineup of Thompson - Durant - Eason - Smith - Sengun should've been enough to close out that game, but wasn't. Not playing Sheppard in OT is not so egregious since Ime was closing with what should've been the best players on the roster. Jabari and Sengun seem to have regressed significantly from last year.
I don't think Ime hates Reed. I think Reed doesn't fit into Ime's worldview. Who is Ime? A 6'6, 220lb forward who went undrafted but nevertheless carved out a scrappy career as a 3&D wing. Now look at the majority of our roster - Okogie, Tari, Bari, DFS, Finney-Smith, Tate. The team is literally a reflection of him. Okogie could be his son. Dillon Brooks is his ideal. FVV is his spirit animal. This is his band of brothers. And Reed? He's no brother. Ime was raised in poverty, whereas Reed is royalty where he comes from. Imagine working your way up from HCC to be the factory manager and having to hire some frat boy. How hard did you have to work to get where you are? And this kid just walks in and gets a job? Maybe you have to keep him on, but he'll have to earn every damn penny. No, Ime doesn't hate Reed. I think Ime is a human being and therefore the sum of his experiences. But while I believe that people should never forget where they came from, they also can't let it define them.
i'm gonna say its the haircut. Idk... maybe Ime got bullied by Opie or maybe Ime was used to bullying kids like Reed... but i think the haircut is the trigger...
