How long was he out of the game? Maybe I missed a short sub out and in, but I saw Reed often physically on the court, not contributing much offensively or defensively towards the end of the 4th, though according to others, he wasn't gassed. I remember a sub out with under a minute with the game tied or within a basket.

 

Unsure of his future on this team with this coach.

We know Fred is coming back to play 38 minutes/game.

And he’d rather have 5 Okogies, 5 Holidays than 1 Sheppard.

So why not spend that $11 million on another “defensive” forward or another center?

 

So Reed playing poorly later in the 4th was because he just sucked after basically creating the lead earlier in the 4th? There would not have been an overtime if Reed didn't run out of juice in the 4th. I've not listened to Udoka's interviews as they have become kind of boring as defense is the only answer to everything. If he was blaming Reed for poor play in the 4th, he should be blaming himself as Reed sucking late looked like gassed to me with Ime the reason he was out there so much in the 4th. I don't think Reed got much rest once he came into the game the 1st time in the second half. I guess he probably got a minute at some point in the 4th. Maybe he got more time, but when he was on the court in the last few minutes of regulation, he did not look energetic such that him being in or not wasn't much difference.

Ime is a DEFENSIVE COACH. Ime is not going to start Reed. No coach is will until he improves on the defensive end....PERIOD.

I thought Reed played his role well last night. He is a bench player right now. He needs to just come in off the bench and score. Playing him against NBA STARTERS, he will get eatten alive.

I think if Jabari would have shown up last night, the Rockets win! Ive said before, we need another scorer more than anything! KD, as much as he turns the ball over, is still legit. Sengun, is a scorer but he is limited.....WE NEED ANOTHER CONSISTANT SCORER

 

To me, Sengun is still suspect. He still has the same game he had since he was a rookie!

He was suppose to improve his 3pt shot, he was suppose to improve his stamina, he was suppose to improve his body, he was suppose to improve his defense.

When Capela came in, it was a notable difference. I don't need him to be Capela defensively but I do need him to have more of a presence down low and for him to take more than two 3pt shots a game! Make the opponents respect you at the 3pt line.

 

Reed is great on offense but he does not fit Ime's defensive schemes. I don't watch many full games but the games I have seen, Reed is too slow in half-court defense...I could see Ime getting very frustrated in the third quarter of the Spurs game (has his hands in his pockets to control his anger lol). The Spurs did not target Reed with one on ones....but instead targeted him in the pick and roll where he looked to slow to switch/rotate...I'm glad Reed came through in that game and hope he can continue to beast...but with Ime...I don't expect a lot playing time for Reed...especially in the playoffs. One last thing...Reed looks really good on the Rockets because he is the best shooter on the team...if the Rockets had more reliable shooters, I think Reed would be playing even less minutes. If FVV was healthy...he would be play 40+ mins a game.

Again, how do people like you lie so blatantly when the numbers complete disprove your narrative? Its falling apart. I actually prefer reed on the bench, but the rockets were 3-1 when Reed started and that sample size didn't indicate anything you are saying

Generally, when you are looking at JO type of players and thats who yo uare playing you aren't going to have amazing shooting. This whole "I want a bunch of PJ Tucker and Juwon Howards to lookn like Curry on offense" is the dumbest thing I have read in a while.

Also again, the numbers literally prove all of these Udoka stans wrong. The defense got worse everytime Reed checked out of the game, Maxey went for 9 straight points when Reed went out. This defensive myth is proven wrong every single time

Its easy to be intellectually lazy and hyperfixate on 1 missed rotation or blow by. When the results continue to refute your narrative you might want to dig deeper in the numbers and understand why.

fwiw: we ran another elevator play for Reed, last game. That requires all 5 guys to practice. You don’t practice a play like that if you hate a player. lulz. Not to mention he played 15 minutes straight to end regulation.

 

I'm a lot more on the "Ime saved the Rockets" train than others here. But some of the rotations and decisions this year have been straight up suspicious.

Reed not playing in OT could easily be painted as "Ime needed to lose this game" considering what had transpired just minutes prior.

Reed is just going to have to play even better both ways to get Ime’s complete trust to be the point guard for this team. The offense is definitely there but he has to be able to slow down the elite guards for Ime 100% to trust him to close out games.

 

What a defensive coach , opens the season playing 2-3 zone

 

3-1 does not equate to half a season, b2b, road games vs home games and level of competition. Im not going to go back and validate Reed's stats when he started vs when he came off the bench....ITS FRIVOLOUS. My eyes never fail me.

Rather than calling me a liar, I think you need to WATCH the games and see the numerous times opponents attack Reed when he's in the game. That's why Ime chose to bring him off the bench and pick the appropriate time to play him.

Ime's identity is DEFENSE and he wants his team to be a defensive first team. Same for Demeco Ryans, if that makes sense to you. That's how the Rockets won last yr.
