not sure if ime is really that amazing of a defensive coach either... we have the defensive personnel to dominate on that end... and while the defensive team stats are alright, the team doesn't seem to be able to impose their will on that end. the 17-18 rockets team had a much better defense and could shut down the other team for an entire quarter and especially so in clutch time. this team not so much. Bzdelik would be running circles over every other team defensively with this personnel.

 

Udoka is not a tactical coach. He is a "good" defensive coach because he prioritizes defensive players and is focused on motivating his players to play hard defense. He is not "good" in the sense that he can device smart defensive schemes to neutralize the opponent's offensive strength.

 

McHale got us to the conference finals. Ime hasn’t even won a PLAYOFF series with us yet.

I dunno about using JD but one move I thought he should have made was leave Capela in there since Sengun wasn’t great tonight and that lineup with Sheppard, DFS, Tari, Capela, Durant was on a roll on both ends.

Yeah I get it… Reed needs to play more. That’s really what this thread is about.

However… if we are being fair here… we can’t just gloss over the stunning lack of depth this team has. During the rebuilding years, Stone did squander the opportunity to build more depth of talent. A lot of misses outside the top 5 with the exception of Sengun and Tari Literally nobody else that wasn’t a top 5 pick is still on this roster providing depth.

 

Not just depth they sell us players such as Clint, Okogie, DFs, Tate, Holiday, Bullock etc.

Those are/were one trick ponies, one way players.
