Yea...we had some fun in some custom games last night talking smack and stuff. It was pretty funny. I know Ricky T and Jaliz were there among others.
Right on. I was trying to remember who everyone is. So SamFisher is Maverick34 - we were wondering why the Maverick - you're not also a Mavs fan are you? Who's Ricky T. It's odd - some types of games I suck at, some others not so much. For some reason I am really really bad at Waterworks and Coagulation. And we played an all shotgun game last night that took me a while to get used to - I hadn't done that yet, but started to figure out the strategy other people were using - unlike other guns, you don't want to shoot right when you see someone, but not until that split second when you are really close.
Precisely why I believe in using a single nick whereever I go. All you people and your multiple nicks depending on where you are at on the Internet. It boggles the mind. Who is Ricky T? That is the question my friends.
Does anyone here use a wireless router with the xbox wireless adapter to play on xbox live? I'm kind of sick of running an ethernet cable across my living room and was thinking about going wireless. However, I have heard that going wireless will add lag to the gameplay. I certainly don't want to add any lag as I get enough of that as is when hard wired. Can anyone comment on the performance quality and, if you do use a wireless router, can you recommend one? I was going to ask for one for x-mas but now I'm having second thoughts because I have read that it will add lag to the experience. If so, then I guess I just continue to run a long ass ethernet cable across my living room. It's not exactly pleasing to the eye to do this. thanks, Surf
I think I was in that all shotgun game with you. Shotguns are a game of chicken...get close enough to kill with one shot, but pull the trigger first. If you wait too long, you are toast, if you shoot to early, you only damage the sheild and are toast as well.
Exactly. Even so, it's hard to lay off the trigger at a semi-distance. But, if you pull the trigger, then you will surely be toast as the distance gap is closed prior to you getting your next shot off. The best tactic is the element of surprise. You can hide from the radar by walking while crouched and then sneak up on the enemy executing a one blast kill...similar to a great tactic used with the energy sword. It's more interesting if the radar is off. I have yet to engage in a pure energy sword(as the default weapon) / grenade fight. We need to do a custom game like that.
I use the xbox wireless adaptor....not too bad of a lag that i notice...i had one game that it was really bad but overall im satisfied with it. hope that helps
will someone please invite me back to the clan....krimbot my clan never does anything and i am on this thing all day long
Our clan hasn't done jack as far as clan activities go. However, we do join up to play games with whomever is online in our friend's list via party invites. I would like to have a clan match against another clan. However, everyone is online so sporadically that I imagine that is nothing but a pipe dream. I guess it would be nice to have a clan practice before a clan match but we would have to get everyone to agree on a schedule cause right now it's nothing but a clusterf*ck. One good thing is, besides having a bunch of Clutch BBSers on my friends list, is being able to compare stats with our clan members via bungie.net to see how everyone is fairing. Personally, I don't know how any clans exist because you have to get several people on the same page/schedule to do anything clan related. It's just a royal pain in the arse.
Just beat it on Heroic, gonna get started on Legendary. Its tough, the dual wielding elites tear you up in a matter of a second. I'm already stuck on the first level. I've gotten so close though and ARGH! Die Anyways, I don't have Xbox live but my brother may bring it down when he comes in on Thanksgiving. He has a wireless thing for his Xbox and Xbox live so I'll tell you how it is if it works here.
They've been having problems with the clan feature and are fixing it.... I started the darn thing and I wasn't in it... Bungie.net news link As far as clan activites are concerned why don't we make the time before and after Rockets games our unofficial meeting times? Maybe ~2 hrs to ~0.5 hrs before gametime and ~0.5 hrs afterwards? Also, it would help if everyone joined the bungie page so we could communicate there. Clutch BBS Clan Page
I accidently quit the clan when playing with some of the online features. As for meeting times....being based in Australia makes it a little difficult. I dont follow the dates and times of Rockets games THAT closely. Having said that....Im on a KILLER losing streak in Big Team Matches because I keep getting MORONS on my team that dont know how to defend a base or capture the oppositions flag. I swear Ive been a one man army in my last 15 matches....Ive lost a point....Im struggling!
A few notes of my own. Previously, I have become frustrated with my connection during Halo 2 online games. My gaming experience varies from game to game as I never have the same speed from game to game. Sometimes, the lag makes my character move like a turtle and sometimes it doesn't. I will also have trouble picking up and changing weapons. Everything is delayed when the connection in the game is crappy. So, I would get so frustrated that I would just leave the game. I did that a few times yesterday. Well, it turns out that when you leave a game, the game still counts against your rank/stats. So, whatever you do, do not leave a matchmaking game prematurely. You should just suffer and play it out. I cannot believe how bi-polar my online gaming experience is in XBox Live. No two games are the same as far as performance goes because of my shoddy connection. I'm willing to take some blame for some lousy play but, more often than not, it is my connection causing my grief. I do know that when I reset my cable connection, the games don't seem to have lag for a few games in. But, then, I will have issues come up like my connection will just die and I will get kicked off. Or, lag will creep back in and impact my gameplay. I know I'm not the only one with these problems. I believe it has a lot to do with who is in your game and their connections as well. Obviously, ping and hops factor into any online gaming experience. In other words, there is a direct correlation between the quality of your connection and your rank. All those f*ckers at the top of the list have "better" connections...and skill. It's not just skill alone and anyone who says otherwise is a ******* liar.
My connection has been pretty good so far.....but I have found a couple of things. Every so often you come across a "Frozen" opposition player who is very easy to kill. My guess is they have either Paused the game or their connection is dead. I find that some players just around the scren and dissapear....an obvious connection problem. This can sometimes work to their advantage as they are almost impossible to kill when that happens. Just on Big Team games...Im getting killed by poor team players. For instance in some games....everyone knows what they have do to. They know where they need to defend. They know how they need to attack. In other games....you can find yourself defending a flag....and all the idiots on your team are running out looking for....SOMETHING....I dont know what. That leave you trying to take down 4 opposition players at once.....geez it can be frustrating. You can be playing a Terrttory grab game and you come across a team flag with 6 guys guarding it! Like I said, Im on a killer losing streak and I blame it all on poor team players.
Surf-- I feel your pain, times TEN.. I'm on a screwed up ethernet LAN here at my dorm, and the bandwidth is severely restricted. I can never, EVER play in a game with more than 8 people and not get horrid lag. It has essentially limited me to playing only in team skirmish and rumble pit games. And even 8 player games are no picnic. I can go for up to several hours at a time with only one bar of red for my lag. I fight it out, but always manage no better than 6th or 7th. If it weren't for this, I'd probably be a level 10 by now.
If you hit the "back" button next to "start" on the controller it shows you the lag of all players next to their name.
