When ESPN first came up with the new ESPN Motion technology (actually the technology is called DIG Motion), I was alittle bit skeptical of the idea. Then after installing it and used it for a couple of weeks, I quickly fell in love with it. I almost use it on a daily basis to catch the Rockets/NBA highlights so I didn't have to always use a TV to do it. The only complaint I had for ESPN Motion is that the users don't get to control when to show the video. When I log onto ESPN, the videos just all of a sudden pop up and start showing the highlights. It could be annoying in some instances, to say the least. Then, ESPN started putting commericals before each highlight, and it became a total pain in the butt. Now, the video popups are not sports highlights anymore, it's a guy talking about Allstate insurance/Comcast Cable/Lexus cars. It's irritating, freaky and totally uncalled for. The beauty of the internet is its interactivity. For the first time in the history of media, the users are in charge of what to see, and what not to see. That's why popup window commercials don't work(how many times are you actually intrigued by those windows and clicked on them?). This is not TV, where you are forced to watch commercials. Therefore, to use the right of being in charge, I simply uninstalled ESPN motion from my computer and ESPN.com became as good as it was for me. I've heard alot of other ESPN.com visitors did the same thing. I really think ESPN blew it. They trashed a very innovative and fun product by being enormously greedy. They don't realize they are wasting one of their strongest resource/product by watering it down like that. Sooner of later, they will lose the majority of the ESPN Motion users if they keep those commerical video popups. To me, they are killing the golden goose to get the eggs.
If you click the highlight you want, and then hit stop, and click it again, you don't have to watch the ad.
ESPN motion only plays the commercials on every other highlight. so what i did to get around the stupid commercials is to watch one highlight. then after it is done, click on another highlight (this one will have the commercial). let the highlight start, but instead of watching it, just click another highlight and watch that one. this one you just clicked on does not have the commercial. you just basically "skipped" the commercial. hope that made sense and didnt confuse you... it only takes a second longer and you still get to see all the highlights without watching all the commercials.
These videos are stored somewhere on your computer, forgot where but you can go to the folder where they are stored and just watch the videos without even having to go to the site and commercial free! The commercials are stored seperately
