I like Reed using picks and have been advocating for it all year. I don’t have access or knowledge to look up the stats, but I will take the time to go through it game by game for assisted vs. unassisted. I’m pretty sure they will look similar to last night. He is a much better 3 pt spot up shooter than pull up or off a pick. If you want Reed on ball, he has to have a pick to get loose. He is fine in the mid-range, but we don’t really need that. We already have 3 guys that want to operate from that area in Amen, Durant, and Sengun. Amen’s full season stats are skewed from his poor start. The last 15 games or so, he is shooting better from every distance other than 3. We need our 3 pt shooters shooting 3 pointers. We’d be better off if Durant would shoot more threes and less twos. I’m pretty sure someone posted his stats from spot up vs. other 3 pointers and, if correct, supports my eye test.

Reed's last 10 games, which backs up my point. He's had 5 games between 6 - 8 pts, 3 games above 10, and 2 games above 20, one against Portland which including last night.

It’s widely acknowledged that most of decemver was a crap month for him. What he played like last night is more in line with how he has played for most of the season

That’s why he is averaging 14ppg..

So averaged what during those games? And more candidly what was his scoring per minute avg.

Reed playing more also helps Jabari.

It’s time for him to start, unless they just love him off of the bench. It’s not like there’s a legit point guard who is better on this roster. Put him at one and Amen at two and figure it out…

Reed's still a liability defensively. Yes he gets steals but his on ball defense can be atrocious at times. Playing him and Sengun together is a train wreck

He makes the entire team better - his passing and movement are infectious - but nothing wrong with having that first off the bench.....I suspect Ime doesn't want him starting because it makes his pet FVV completely obsolete.

Why is it that no one else gets this?? Starting Sengun and Reed together would be treacherous defensively.

Ive been saying this for a minute. The way Reed plays and with his defensive liabilities, its best if he comes off the bench in spurts

Its clear our starting lineup should be Reed Amen Durant Bari and Sengun. I love Amen but Im starting to get worried about him not being able to shoot. In this league you stick out like a sore thumb if you cant post up OR shoot. His defense at times makes up for it and sometimes it makes us too easy to defend especially if Bari cant find his shot and Reed isnt in the game.

Our defensive numbers are better with Sengun lol Where do you guys get these ideas from? Sengun locked up Wemby. Literally couldnt score on him last night. Let me guess your eye test is looking at perimeter blown assignments and blaming Sengun because he cant guard everyones man lol

I like Reed's role as the "Energizer Bunny" off the bench. The other players seem to pick up the pace when he subs in. If he can continue to improve his defense and shoot a high percentage, I think you start him.

Last night Sengun and Reed played together most of the 4th quarter. I guess the Spurs didn't take advantage of the "train wreck" and scored only 14 points for the quarter losing a double digit lead.

Sengun didnt guard Wemby. They put Okogie, Tari and DFS on Wemby. Go back and watch the game

Reed played most of the 4th but Sengun didnt come in down the stretch.

You can not start them together and expect to win long term. Either your center or PG has to play defense.

Sengun did not play most of the 4th quarter, the comeback was with him on the bench. I believe the lineup was:

    Jabari
    KD
    Reed
    DFS
    Amen

    That made the comeback.

You're right. Sengun came in the game at around 7:30 in the quarter. The score was 92-91.

The point still stands. More than half of the last quarter when Reed and Sengun were playing together, the defense wasn't a train wreck like the narrative goes. They stood the ground and closed out the game.

We were playing well when KD sat too. When they sat KD Reed went off. Is KD a train wreck? News at eleven Rockets fans say lol We have a winning Record when KD is out and a losing one when Sengun is. Figure that one out lol

Forget all of that, it's time to start Reed. We need him, Durant and Jabari adding a serious volume of shooting to the starting lineup. This team should be Amen and Sengun surrounded by our 3 best volume shooters. That's easy to see.

No he won't have as many opportunities to create shots but we have a greater need than that. We need his 3pt shooting skills both on ball and off ball. Need him to totally raise our baseline 3pt efficiency. He can take up to ten a game. That along with 4-5 assists makes him indispensable to the starting lineup. His defense can be hidden next to Amen and Okogie.

If you don't start him, the offense will suffer. If you start him, the defense will suffer. One way or another we're sacrificing something but with Reed starting we're most likely to see in-season improvement and we'd be investing in the future.

Sometimes the solution is the simplest. This team needs shooting and playmaking more than it needs anything else. The 3 guys surrounding Amen and Sengun have to be our best.
