What should we do to improve QB position in 26?

If we didn’t have that defense, Stroud woulda lost a lot of games this year.

Honestly probably the realistic best solution is to just play CJ and if we start on a losing streak again then just lean into and do nothing and let him self tank.
If the coach , team, CJ improves his play then great! We benefit from him getting better,”.


Basically like it or not we let CJ dictate the future of the franchise next season.

Pay and keep all defense and don’t do anything for anyone on offense and leave it in the air to evaluate our best moves for the 2028 season

 

If you take away the defense and start mills for example, we know he's gonna win 2-3 games because he's done it. What would be your solution to actually upgrade? I assume you don't want to downgrade? Or you just want anyone that's not stroud regardless if they're better or worse?

Not just one game. He’s been terrible for a while.

Defense saved him.

Going with Stroud as the starter is giving up on a championship.

CJ isn’t the worst QB in the league. But he’s also not an upper half QB either.
He’s been average at best the last two seasons.

Does he have all the help? No. But there are other QBs in worse positions that do more with less.

 

Idk who does more with less but there’s nobody available who’s better. Unless Cinci decides to trade burrow or something unforeseen happens, there’s just nobody.

 

Send CJ to wherever Tom House is to fix those mechanics (Brady's "shot doctor")

 

Get him back to the basics, footwork, mechanics, and throwing rhythm. Rebuild the small things before adding more.

Get him back in the film room. Have him drill the fundamentals of running an offense: relaying the formation, setting motion, identifying protection, and making alert calls until it’s automatic.

If he’s waiting too long to read the defense, decide whether to check and or confirm protections

Then it is indecision, not playcalling and not the players around him.

Call Tom Brady and see if he can spend more than a day with him this time. Not for the publicity, but for preparation, routine, and command of the offense. The Texans are about to invest a lot of money in this QB. Before that happens, they need to know his offseason commitment to fixing these issues is real.

When the season starts, that’s not the time to still be learning the basics, that’s when he needs to execute everything he worked on.

and of course, add some talent to the IOL, RB, TE....

Bonus Points if they do all of that and clip it to a soundtrack of 80's music and end it with a dramatic freeze frame of CJ with his hands up, Rocky style.

 

List all the successful QBs whose situations are as questionable as CJ’s. I’m genuinely curious which ones you’ll list.

 

Maye, Allen, Herbert, Mahomes, Nix and arguably Love

 

What are you basing this on? Like Nix has a great line and solid skill players. I would bet zero texans players that played in that game would have started for denver.
