We tried this, the problem was he never touched the ball because Durant and Sengun were in and controlled it every possession. Reed was standing at the 3 pt line as a kick out option. When he comes off the bench he's like first option so he has ball in his hands. Starting him is going to require Ime, Durant, and Sengun to trust him more with the ball in his hands.

Honestly, it doesn’t matter if he starts, but he should be playing an avg of 25 minutes a game at the very least, preferably the 30 he played last night.

Sengun actions need to be relegated behind Reed. They are significantly easier to defend and stress the defenses less. Lately it just results in a terrible shot.

Reed can sit at the end of 1Q and we can do the SenHub thing then.

we want him starting because right now he's been regularly under 20mpg and that's without starting a PG in the first lineup. it's not hard to understand and it's not a "lack of basketball knowledge".

I still don't understand why it's important Reed starts vs comes off the bench when we don't have a lot of options behind Reed on the depth chart. Feels like you are just robbing Peter to pay Paul. What's important who is closing and when Reed is not making a bunch of mistakes on the court he will be in there.

I truly don't understand what people are watching where they think Reed is being pulled for every mistake.

I'm not sure his conditioning is actually there yet to play 30+ minutes consistently, actually. But he definitely shouldn't be having all these games where he barely gets to play and never gets a chance to get into rhythm.

Stats and eye test don’t bare this out. Sheppard shoots great as a spot up shooter, not even league average when on the move. Last night was a perfect example. 6-8 when assisted, 2-9 when not. He also needs picks to get open with the ball. Amen set him up for 4 of his 8 made shots. Reed did assist Amen on 2 of his shots. Reed is a good passer when on ball, but not a great shooter. What does this team need out of Reed? Shooting.

You make an excellent point, and the issue is KD and Sengun needing to alter their play to weaponize Sheppard, and Sheppard also being more assertive to be weaponized. But the onus is on KD and Sengun because Sheppard ain’t Sam cassell. (Also, it’s bear not bare as you are using the phrase. Not tryna be a dick, just thought I’d help).

Reed seems to shoot decently off of screens from 12-16 feet. Just doesn't take them as much as he should. Not sure what the stats say are his splits off of screens in the mid range but that's a shot he, Durant and Jabari should spam.

Ime did it for like 2 games. We didn't really try it.

Problem is Reed has games like last night too far and in between. And the thing is, we nor the coaching staff know when its going to occur.

Its nothing Ime, KD, or Sengun is doing, Reed played the same way in college. Go back and look at his college game log. He was consistently up and down.

Im a Rocket fan first and foremost, so I am elated by his performance on last night but I think we need someone to come off the bench and give us points CONSISTENTLY.

When Sengun and KD goes to the bench, we need someone to come in and be able to give us a consistent 10 - 12 pts a game and not every 5th or 6th game. But great job last night Reed!

Which is exactly what Reed has been doing all year long.

Now last night he had 21 - your eyes need work.

Stats say Reed is a 40% shooter on pullup 3s and better than Amen on pullup 2s. Most eye ball tests from most say Reed does very well with shooting while on ball. Watching videos of Reed's three attempts...sure looks like about 40% of the threes that Reed has to dribble at least once go in from my eyeball tests. Lots of PnR threes made. Granted, one has to watch a lot of games and not just the ones that fit a person specific narrative.

Reed's only issue with the ball is that the handle sometimes prevents him from getting open looks on the ball, using picks, and getting into the paint. When he gets the look, he can make his shots.

On picks, basketball is a team game. Picks are allowed and Reed is really good shooting off a pick when his handle let's him use it. KD is the best Rocket by far on isolation. I find it funny that you are so anti-KD Iso, but don't like Reed being able to use a pick.

He does hit that middy, but that is not what we need from him. We need shots from deep. We already have 3 guys that want to shoot in the free throw circle. We need Jabari, Tari, DFS, Reed and even Durant to shoot spam 3’s.

That’s possible, but you’re going to need him to build up to that to maximize his contribution in the playoffs this season, so I agree the multiple 14 minute games are doing him no good for either his stamina or rhythm.

Well except when he hasn't been doing it during a January skid....when he was a bit too timid offensively and getting targeted defensively. Your eyes have proven to be unreliable through your GARM tenure.... hence the DD curse.

Let the kid develop.... don't put your curse on him by overvaluing him and claiming he's a Curry type generational shooter.

Reed's last 10 games, which backs up my point, he had 5 games between 6 - 8 pts, 3 games above 10, and 2 games above 20, one against Portland which including last night, when given 20 or more minutes.

If Cam Whitmore or a similar player were given those same minutes, i can easily say, they would have more games between 15 - 20 pts.

Im not trashing Reed but if you're a scorer and you need help to get your shot off....that says alot

He has been fine, the team needs to let him play through slumps, because shooters shoot there way out, he isn't jacking up 20 shots a game - hell he should be shooting 15 3s a game and we would be much better off.
