So does Steph (age 37) end up elsewhere, or do the Warriors keep running it back and pretending there's a chance until he retires?

Nah once the warriors are done they’re done. They were bottom dweller for decades before Steph and league never really tried helping them lol. I have lifelong warrior fans in family and some friends. Been fans forever and it’s mainly been a **** show until Steph showed up. Lakers are treated differently by the league Warriors will most likely go the Bulls route.

Let’s give them false hope. Durant, Eason, Adams for Melton, Moody, Horford, Butler, 2026 frp and 2028 frp. Let our youngsters simmer this year, buy out Jimmy, fire Ime and go for it next year.

Couldn't happen to a nicer franchise and coach.

I wouldn't hate it. He's been awesome as an individual player, but with the minutes he's playing, KD is a career-ending injury waiting to happen.

ACL will probably cost more than just this season.

I agree, as a late season ACL.

I was actually there in person -- my first Warriors game in a decade, and my first visit to the Chase Center (meh, such a spectacle, so much fake hype).
But anyway, it looked bad right away, and the untold story is that it happened all due to a bad pass from "Pods" -- that player is such a dummy, and it was like a dumb QB getting a receive killed over the middle. It was just a terrible lob post entry pass when Jimmy was already heavily covered.

Maybe my NFL powers extend to the NBA? Not that I was rooting for the Warriors, beyond being slightly polite for my host, but I was in a season ticket holder's seat.

Whether Steph leaves after the season is now the only question that matters for the franchise. He has one year, $62M for 2026/27.

Since JB's injury eliminates any hope they can field a competitive team in the next few years, I believe the Warriors will trade Steph to the team(s) of his choice in the offseason.

No chance. We should give them hope with a Durant trade and take a couple of their draft picks and decent role players. Insure they suck for years.

I'd guess a large part of it is what Curry wants to do, whether he values finishing out his career there and staying in the Bay Area where his family is deeply embedded in the metro area, or wants to chase another ring. (And that might also depend somewhat on how long he wants to keep playing.) I can't imagine the Warriors would trade him if he prefers to stay, but I could be wrong about that. I guess he doesn't have an NTC.

Should the Rockets trade for Steph Curry?

The Warriors definitely won't trade Steph if he wants to stay. They would probably be fine if the greatest player in franchise history never changes jerseys. I doubt Steph wants to play out the string on a non-competitive team, but the lure of going start to finish in one place and staying where he's rooted must have great appeal.

We'll see. It's all up to him.

He's gonna head back home to Charlotte in exchange for LaMelo Ball.
