NFL (at least the QB position) is becoming like baseball. It used to be the QBs will come in n suck for couple of years before they get better. Nowadays they come in blazing hot and start sucking. Just like in baseball, rookies would come in hot, then they figure 'em out.
TWICE? Dude had wide open lanes all game long and threw the ball up, he has no pocket presence or very poor pocket awareness at all. You are not going to win with CJ - nothing significant - he just doesn't have it, the dude is a dud.....you need to build a ****ING wall around him to give him the time he needs and he has to CHECK down......all the time, half the sacks are him simply holding the ball too damned long. And don't give me the BULLSHIT that he audibles, they are so slow getting to the line there is rarely any audible - how many flags do they get with him not getting the team to the line and ready to go? Turns out the tests they took that said he wasn't a fast thinker were 100% accurate.... We need an upgrade. Someone with some FIRE to lead the charge....CJ ain't it. DD
I hope yall realize that the burrow thing is a pipe dream… we could send CJ and 4 1sts for burrow and Cincinnati still won’t trade him. Let’s be real here, we need to hope for a bounce back year from CJ.
I agree he gets hurt often but an elite talent like that is worth the gamble. Hopefully CJ bounces back next season so all this can be put to rest.
After a night to sleep on this, I am still pissed but let's be honest CJ isn't going anywhere just yet............I think I am having the realization that this version of CJ is not elite and maybe he just isnt elite as he was his rookie year. Let's get the kid a real offensive OC with a scheme that works............this offensive scheme sucks and I think for CJ it is putting a round peg in a square hole. I don't want this to sound bad, but maybe he can't read a D like we think he can, I am not sure. I think CJ has to do some soul searching, the last 2 games, when we needed him most, were his 2 worst performances of the year. I think we will all have some PTSD next year if CJ continues this path.....up until the playoffs he was really great at not turning it over, so I ask, WTF happened. IMO the moment was too big for him and he tried too hard..........I say this seriously, the kid needs a sports shrink, and there is nothing wrong with that My fandom was really bad the last 48 hours...............my biggest regret is this was the EASIEST path IMO and we may NAVER get that again. I expect Mahomes, Jackson to be back in the mix, the friggin Jags look legit and dont sleep on the Colts with Jones. All I want for Xmas is Mark Fletcher Jr.................the kid is a beast
What have the Texans done to HELP CJ the last 2 seasons? Hire an inexperienced OC? Go TEMU shopping for Linemen? Draft a 4th round RB? When have they drafted a RB or TE above the 4th round? You drafted 2 WRs in the 2nd and 3rd round, but you haven't seen a WR drafted in Round 1 since Hopkins. Last 2 - 1st round Olinemen were Green and Howard. The Texans have neglicted the offense for WAY TOO LONG. Yes, you can get a Nico in the 3rd because he dropped in the draft. Ersey seems like a good 2nd round pick. However, the talent on the offense is lacking...big time.

I’m going to go out on a limb and say CJ was in a simple/simpler offense his rookie year. I would assume each year after, as one would assume he would grow, his offense and its complexity has grown. I think the problem is the more he has to “think”, the less effective he is. I don’t know how you simplify things for him but to me that’s what he needs. If that’s not what is going to happen, you need a new QB.
Look at the 2023 OL for the Pats... Cole Strange is a UFA.... :thinking emoji: We had 3 of those players on our roster this year
This just solidified I don’t want to see him as a Houston Texan ever again and I don’t give a damn what excuses anybody tries to make for him
