I find it hard for Rafael to part with draft capital because he is a gambling man and likely fascinated on rolling the dice.
Coach in my opinion. I know you feel otherwise and maybe we aren’t championship calibre yet. Still young other than ancient Durant. As much as I respect your basketball acumen you would be a terrible GM. Trading Amen or Sengun wouldn’t be on the table for any GM other than the fired, crooked Dallas GM.
Amen limits the offense. Sengun inconsistent. I would say sub par players. What coach is better than Udoka and why? What is the standard for coaching? How do you rate or assess coaching performance both quantitative and qualitatively?
I respectfully disagree. I think those who hold onto hopes that a Sengun Amen duo would win a championship will be very disappointed. As I said you can’t have 2 players not able to shoot 3s. Not only 3s neither of these guys shoot consistently from 15 ft and beyond. This is cause for radical change. Think outside the box. You don’t know what GM’s think. Anything could be on the table.
22 and 23. Sengun all-star probably 2 years in a row, although he is struggling right now. Amen averaging 20.9 points, 8.6 rebounds, 80% ft, 1.4 stls last 10 games. Improving his mid-range and still learning to play guard. Neither is even close to sub-par. Patience is not one of your virtues. It would be crazy to break up this team for a 37 year old bell cow.
I'm not opposed to trading DFS , Capela. I doubt they will be of much value. I like Tari, he is often injured though. Grimes for Tari and two second round picks is okay with me.
Again that’s the reason they got Durant. Win now. This isn’t me saying it. This is media reports from major networks and publications. This is coming directly from Stone and Udoka. The goal is winning not development. If they’re not winning in the next 1-3 years then what’s it all for? Amen not only doesn’t have a 3 ball he doesn’t have a dribble pull up game. At least poor shooters like Fox, Westbrook, D Wade all had a dribble pullup game. That’s a very difficult move especially if you’ve never played like that. Amen has zero dribble pull up ability. This likely takes years to master. He was training this summer for it but not confident enough in games. Like i said i liken him to jeremi grant who took 6-7 years to master that move. Why is this important? Because it gives us another tool to score. Not having a 3 ball already hampers the team but not having a pull up game further limits us. It’s not about patience. It’s about what the team is trying to accomplish in a results oriented NBA and sports culture.
Shirley anyone can be traded; even Luka. But either of these two need bring back a talent like AD, but who is young. And healthy.
I have addressed this before. I would pull that trigger to get giannis and a stretch 5 for Sengun. Maybe turner if available in the deal. If they can’t get Giannis they need to deal Amen for a combo that can score whoever that might be. The main point is Sengun Amen tandem ain’t going nowhere as much as I hate to say it.
I think the Rockets thought these players were further along in their development than they really are. Most people thought we were ahead of schedule for the re-build. The trade for Durant was premature. Two wrongs don’t make a right. It is about patience. It gets down to opinions on the ceilings of our young players. I think they are much higher than you do. Neither of us has a monopoly on predicting the future. I would much rather add more young talent to our maturing core than trying to add aging stars to maximize our window with a 37 year old star. Both are gambles. I don’t know who to replace Ime with. I just don’t think he is a championship coach and hope somebody better shakes loose in the next couple of years. I’m sure not gutting the team for Giannis, another guy that can’t shoot 3’s or FT’s. Nobody really predicted how good Spoelstra would be or Boston’s coach. Who is to say we might find the next coaching star.
From @Codman What would you give up Clint for? Think centers/PFs and focus in in Charlotte, Detroit and Boston . charlotte has a ton of bigs. Diabate? Can’t see Detroit messing too much with their rotation. Boston - Queta?
All those 3 teams are on the upswing and playing sound ball.....why mess with the chemistry and rotations.....
Last season, I was really hoping they would at least make a trade to consolidate the contracts of Jeff Green, Tate, and Landale when they were all making around 8 mil so that we would at least preserve matching salary for this season. Without those on the books, we need to trade players we actually use to match higher salaries. I guess losing DFS wouldn't be so bad if it nets us someone who can be a real 6th man but overall I'm not a fan of just letting salary expire.
