They used to drop bangers after bangers...now they drop lame tracks after lame tracks that all sound the same. A lot of people know that Houston's favorite rapper Slim Thug signed with The Neptunes through Interscope. Slim Thug is one of my favorite rappers and I have never heard a bad song from him since his voice is just so tight. After listening to my friend's version of Slim Thug's new album "Already Platinum", I came to the conclusion that The Neptunes officially fell off. There are 14 tracks on the CD and only 2 of the beats sound somewhat professional. The rest are trash. I can't believe Slim Thug picked The Neptunes to mess up his career. Oh well, Slim's a millionaire already.
Yeah they fell the **** off. I kinda saw it coming when I picked up "...Presents", then was reminded again by the newest [subpar] N.E.R.D. Like Eminem, they're rich and complacent. Say goodbye to the "Southern Hospitality"/"Grindin" era. That "Change Clothes" stuff is here to stay. At least they made their mark though.
Just last year they were one of the highest paid hip hop acts in the business. Fall off? I dunno? Lame tracks, Sure, Of course. Cmon you should know Pop music is not about the music. Its all about the promotion and sales of....the crap. BTW, watching a Rap City rerun with the Late ODB/Dirt McGirt on yesterday, did you know they created the music to "Baby I got your Money"?
I don't know, I actually liked their latest N.E.R.D. album, Fly or Die. Not as good as the first cd, but it would have been tough to top that. I've been hoping they were gonna go back on tour sometime soon because they always put on a really good show. To be fair though, N.E.R.D. is one of the few hip-hop type bands that I'm really into, so I don't hear a lot of their neptunes tracks.
Neptunes are the shiznite and N.E.R.D. had a great 1st album and the second one was even better. STAR TRAK.
I don't like Snoop's new song. They have made only about 2 or 3 jams in the last 2 years. That's weak. Dirt of your Shoulders and Frontin are the only 2 jams I can think of at the moment in the past 2 years. Well maybe a year and a half...but still they getting weak.
1) What Chicken Boy said about Timbaland 2) Who said that Slim Thug is Houston's favorite rapper? Mine just so happens to be Scarface. So ST can't be the favorite of ALL of Houston. 3) Yes, what King of 40 Acres said.
I Love Lil' Flip and Slim Thug. They both kick ass. Who else coming out with rap in the last few years is from H-Town? There's Mike Jones, is Paul Wall?
I can't stand Lil' Flip ever since he "blew up", his music has been garbage. And Mike Jones is complete and utter trash. Paul Wall and Chamillionaire are a thousand times better than Mike Jones, but I doubt either of them will seriously make it.
For sure I like Lil' Flip's earlier records... it makes me sick to see one of his videos on MTV... or to hear one of his songs on those pop stations.
Chamillionaire is the best in H-Town, Mike Jones is kinda booboo, but drops a few bangers. Paul is still using his 99-2001 style of rap, as hiphop grows u must grow with it. That "What it Do is Paul Wall" ****, needs to stop. But no matter what I say, I hope Houston is next in line for da rap game to focus on.
