We are slow starting because we don't have anyone that can handle the rock well....or shoot outside other than KD.

Amusing how this thread doesn't get bumped for almost 3 weeks.... I guess it's been that long since Reed has had a great game to argue if he's needs to be starting. ;)

There are enough great games to know that he isn't getting used properly - what is interesting is that some people don't understand balanced lineups and are willing to settle for mediocrity or lower end offense.

This is not football. You can't have two different units for offense and defense. There is just not enough stoppages to do that. Plus players need a bit of time for game rhythm, especially on offense. The O/D substitutions are usually used toward the end of the game clock when you want maximum control of possessions.

Coaching has to balance between predetermined game plan and game time adjustment.

Except when Reed was coming off the bench in December we were getting leads and then blowing them in the 4th quarter. I don't think by inserting Reed into the starting lineup that it's going make the entire 48 minutes better.

Well the great games have been less frequent in January. I won't argue that Reed shouldn't be getting more minutes but you also have to balance a 48 minute game.

Teams adjusted and started doubling Durant and we started falling apart because we have no dribbling or passing in that lineup and we started losing.

it is dead easy to play against the Rockets without Reed and his shooting a a weapon - just double durant and pack the paint...job done.

Agree with you on balancing 48 minutes, but we really need to find a way to get 30 minutes a game with Reed, KD and Alpi on the floor and never have less than 2 of them the other 18......

Calm down that was just an example of how Reed is used to close games. Again, too much emphasis on starting games when Reed played a little more than half of the 4th, including most of the offensive plays to close out.

Feels like he’s coaching for his job with these meaningless wins for the sake of his record instead of the big picture. Which is development that can lead you to a title. Very shortsighted and selfish in my opinion.

He only played what? 19 minutes, that is far far too low......He should be 32mpg and that should be the target for all the best players.

    Amen, Alpi, KD, Bari......

There is a pecking order with Davison, latter came into the picture like what 5-6 games ago??

Ime panicked because they were losing game against the likes of Sacramento, Dallas, Portland, NOLA etc....

Ime has been throwing sh*t against the wall all year. Davison was just the latest iteration of that. Finally, last night he quit and went with more traditional rotations. No double bigs, no double midgets. They played way more pick and rolls and Durant took more 3’s instead of always looking for his fade away. Sengun finally settled in and went back to playing a more facilitating role instead of forcing his offense like in the first half. Jabari has to start hitting his shots or get Tari back and send him to the bench if necessary. Lean into what worked this game and stop experimenting. It doesn’t matter if Okogie or Reed starts, but substitute guards for guards, forwards for forwards, and centers for centers. If you can’t get 3 shooters for distance on the floor at the same time then trades will need to be made (in the off-season more than likely).

Placing reed in the lineup won't be the answer. sure it can look great if KD, sengun and reed all hitting their shots.

But good lord teams score at will when all 3 are out there.

Not only that, where will you get the bench production if reed is in the starting lineup? The bench unit is already thin and terrible as is.

Reed won't be in the starting lineup until KD retires or this coaching staff decide to run the offense through him and spam pick n' roll.

I feel like if you have Amen and Okogie out there to guard the best of the 1/2/3 spots, Reed can pretty easily be hidden on minor threats. I think he can handle that.

I also feel like we lost Dillon's energy, so it would be good to have Amen/Okogie/Reed out there together. They play very aggressive by nature. I'm not so sure our defense would take a significant hit.

I think this team can learn to play good team defense and build chemistry before playoff time.

    Sengun
    Durant
    (The best of Okogie/Jabari/Tari)
    Amen
    Sheppard

Feel like that team has the highest ceiling if we're about to decide our starting lineup for the rest of the season.

The slow starting is a recent phenomenon. In 9 out of 10 of Okogie’s starts at the beginning of the year, we won and were the #1 offense in the league. Our recent issues are a product of injuries and historically bad 3 point shooting. As long as Tari is injured, I think Ime should go ahead and try Reed in the starting lineup, but unless he changes the offense away from Durant ISO’s it won’t do a lick of good and our defense will be even worse. We are going to suck unless Jabari and/or Tari and/or Okogie start hitting 3’s. Even if that miraculously happened, we will still not be championship contenders with Durant initiating the offense 75% of the time. It’s just outdated basketball from a Narcissistic outdated coach.
