That's pure lunacy. Not only the words, but because he has lost the ability to use paragraphs.

We are so ****ed long term - literally took 80 years of a US led global order and - *destroyed it* - for no reason other than that they *could*

What a disaster - will be impossible to restore

That is 100% more insane than his usual insanity. I'd point out specific lines but I would end up quoting the entire post.

It's almost like Trump expected the entire global economy to just stop until it bent to his wishes.

Where the **** is congress? I am more upset with the damn Republican Party. Tariffs are the power of congress not the president. The amount of power these ****ing p*****s give to Trump is ****ing ridiculous. They all should lose their seats.

Well, it will be impossible to restore with the US in any semblance of its former position at the head of the table. Some sort of stability will eventually arise again (maybe after a big war or two or three in quick succession), but the US will be a pariah for a while. As others have said, electing this asshat twice tells the rest of the world all it needs to know about the US moving forward. And they've seen our system just doesn't work; our checks and balances are neither checking nor balancing.

Nothing is forever, but to quote Reginald Dwight: I think it's gonna be a long, long time.

Also, where is the Supreme Court? In trump's back pocket, apparently. The current conservative majority (a couple of them blatantly corrupt) would end much of trump's madness if they simply supported the constitution and many decades of established law. So far, they are content to rubber stamp trump's autocratic urges.

Strategically all this talk tells me this won't happen.

If we were gonna take it, we'd just do it. Kind of like how we snatched Maduro.

The more we talk about it the more eyes get on it, the more prepared people are, and the messier the fallout will be.

    Just doesn't make sense.

There was about 2 months of bluster and escalating action before we did Venezuela.

Kinda like what we're seeing here. Just saying.

I don't think it will happen either but a lot of other bad **** is all the more probable if - the literally unthinkable disaster of the US declaring war on NATO - is the thing we have to worry about preventing

What if Trump just ordered a nuclear strike on Tehran? Or Mexico City? These things are all possible now. Not probable, but just a whole new world of awful. And that's just foreign policy wise assuming everyone else just goes about their business.

I think I follow the logic they're operating under.

-Greenland is of major strategic and economic importance to the USA
-The USA puts more into NATO than it gets out of it

So, in their eyes we take Greenland and one of two things happen.

    A) Nothing
    B) NATO ceases to be

Both outcomes they view as a win.

So, in that sense, I get it.

In a way I appreciate the honesty. Previous regimes would concoct a bunch of lies to do this ****. These guys are just like "LOL we want it and we are bigger than u so suck it nerds". Have to respect the gangster in that. Law of the jungle baby.

I’ve acknowledged that logic in the Greenland's thread. It’s the logic of pre-WWII power politics. It treats alliances, sovereignty, and international law as optional as long as you’re strong enough. That worldview didn’t end well the last time it dominated, and reviving it doesn’t lead to stability. It increases the risk of a wider war.

The real problem isn’t honesty versus dishonesty, it’s the failure to understand why this logic is dangerous. We’ve had roughly a century of relative global stability precisely because alliances and norms restrained that kind of thinking. That’s why recent polling shows only about 4% of Americans support using military force to take Greenland. It’s morally wrong, ethically wrong, and strategically reckless.

I think you're giving "them" too much credit

Trump doesn't have any logic, other than dementia lizard brain, no need to discuss that part

The rest of the courtiers, the Rubio's, Millers Vances etc just react with whatever will get them clout so that when Trump dies they're in better standing.

That's it, any other grand strategy is just stapled on ex post (which is why all of the strategic consequences will be awful for all of us)

How is it that we the US are actually threatening to invade and annex EU lands before Russia can?
