yeah, I’d say, whichever one they can convince to sign for the minimum will be the one they use to compete with Salazar for the job in spring training
Hmmmm. Cant see much of match on the surface. Maybe Astros dump Walker to them and take back Manaea? Or send them Meyers and get back Senga with NY eating money?
Unless they are giving up on Vientos, that doesn't make sense. I'd guess it's Meyers but don't see much there either.
Bello comes with 5 seasons of control. Even though Houston doesn’t really need pitching anymore, Bello has a lot of value.
Would that really do that though? You still have Pena, Correa, Alvarez, Altuve with Brice Matthews and Cam Smith up and coming. I just don't get a lot of the doom and gloom.
Arrighetti He has 5 years of control left; the 5th year would cost 21M (option). That’s really 4 years of control left—the same as Arrighetti.
If you remove Paredes, you are relying on Brice, Dezenzo, and Allen to backup the entire IF. You would be asking for all of our IF to play 150 games. And you’d be asking for Alvarez to cover a ton of LF, or give the entire OF to Cole, Meyers, Cam, and Sanchez. Removing Paredes puts a ton of weight on aging vets and inexperienced young guys. In short, it asks the Astros to repeat 2025 with Paredes out.
I don't think staggering days off would be as difficult as you seem to think it would be. As it stands, Walker and Altuve played more than 150 games last season, Pena played 150 or more in 2 of the past 3 seasons, Correa played over 140 games The OF looks weaker, but Paredes doesn't really help that.
But if the Astros get Duran in return then Yordan is not playing LF much at all (assuming Meyers is not included in the trade).
Yeah but the premise was about Bello rather than Duran. I think getting Duran back is probably preferable, but even if they go Bello to solidify their pitching even more, I don't think it would "reduce our hitting to rubble" which was the initial claim.
