All that seems like a real long shot but even if it could be shown the driver is somehow knowingly involved in the scam they still
Wouldn’t be a defend to shooting the driver twice as she is already shot and begging for her life.

I am amazed he pleaded not guilty and self-defense. Why would any lawyer hope to win on that argument? Get a plea deal, no matter how paltry.

Also, dismayed they have not caught the scammers. I suppose the Uber account is on a stolen credit card. But wasn't the Uber driver given instructions on where to take the package? Was it, 'put it in the garbage can next to the big fir tree in the state park'?

The old guy is in his 80's, he would die in jail - even on a plea deal.

I also would be stunned if the old guy would ever agree to a plea deal - he would never admit he was wrong, because if he did, that would mean he is a murderer and a bad person.

Lots of white male entitlement in play - this guy was born in the 1940's. A lot of white people, especially guys in the USA born in that era grew up believing that they double and triple down on being right about something, even if they are wrong. He oozed entitlement, he went outside with a pistol in his driveway pointed at a 60 year old woman that struggled to walk, and he shot her in the leg and then shot her twice more and killed her. He did all of this and felt completely entitled-- that is the type of entitlement that takes many decades to build up and be reinforced.

There are a lot of people out there like this guy to some degree.

This is Black American history summarized. Always demonized, exploited and killed by brainwashed underachieving white men.

Yes - it is the history of black America and women in America as well.

Every generation thinks that their generation is enlightened and fair and all of the bigotry and racism is in the past.

It isn't a generational thing - it is a human thing -- we see it seeping out now in the USA after enough people in power have stated it is okay to feel that way.

It is also why I can respect and appreciate someone like Malcolm X or some Pan Africanists or the Nation of Islam. While what they say may not register as "fair" or as racist to those that are not members, the context is often overlooked, and the self-empowerment element is discarded to the side.

I have it on good authority that fentanyl was the true culprit and this man is innocent.
