Hmmm we just need Ime to act inappropriately with one of the women on this list: https://basketball.realgm.com/nba/teams/Houston-Rockets/10/staff-members How can we make that happen?
If we can't make it past the first round playoffs i think we need to change coaches. We've regressed from the begnning of the season, while other teams have improved. The problem with Ime is i don't see him implementing anything new, he continues to stick to same defencive and offencive schemes that aren't working. He continues to deploy 3 non shooters with a focus on defence in the 4th quarter. We are usually still in the game in the 3rd quarter but by the time of the 4th quarter, it just becomes ISO offence with 3 non shooters who provide no spacing offencively. The worse is that the 3 non shooter lineup (Sengun, Amen, Adams) in the 4th isn't even doing a good job on the defencive end. Can't get stops and is just trading 2s for opponents 3s. It's not rocket science if it's not working MAKE A FUKN CHANGE to see if something else works, it's a 82 game season FFS try to make changes. Also when you have 3 non shooters and Bari who is bricking shots you're effectively playing 4 non shooters and Durant. It's not a coincidence that Reed was balling out in the middle of the season but has been yanked so frequently and is having the ball taken out of his hand as a initiator so often he has resorted back to the 1st season Reed where he just runs to the corner 3 waiting for someone to pass out to him which more often than not doesn't happen. When Reed is being given the green light to initiate the offence good things happen and Ime should be trying to run more plays through Reed. Also Reed is his own worst enemy, he needs to be more ball dominant but is happy to see people like Bari taking the ball up the court. Everytime I see that I'm like WHY is Bari one of the worst dribblers on the team taking the ball out of Reed's hands.
Ime needs to go. He just keeps doing what doesn't work over and over again. He may know defense but he is on Silas's level as an offensive coach. It is time to make Reed PG and lean into Senhub to take advantage of our two best offensive initiators on the team.
I agree. Just trying to be pragmatic. Ime just signed an extension and the organization loves him. On the other hand, Stone has made some really good deals and has gotten a lot of favorable contracts done. So I dont know. Hopefully youre right and they see that Ime needs to make some changes in his coaching.
The Durant trade put everyone in distress, why now... with that 2 year window..... It was so out of nowhere....... In a perfect world without OKC, the Rockets win one for Durant and he moves on from Houston with a statue or whatever......or even a banner or mural. This is not a perfect world. You got to fight for every little detail.
Another reason he needs to go. Horrible coach, horrible wannabe GM Don’t need more Ime players, need less Ime and less Ime players
Stone builds the roster, Ime decides who plays. It's Ime who fields a starting lineup without a single guard, it's Ime who leans on the double-big, and it's Ime who goes to these Amen-Okogie-Adams lineups in crunch time. It's Ime who reduces the margin of error on offense to nil and then complains to the media when his guys play scared.
Y'all did the same thing to Silas. I'm not saying Silas was a good coach, but he had a trash roster to work with, and I argue that we never knew how good of a coach he could be given the roster was full of young developmental prospects with no veteran leadership. After he left we've already moved on from the backcourt he was forced to play (KPJ and Jalen Green). Even though Stone scapegoated Silas, I was happy we got Udoka. With FVV and D Brooks he was able to establish a culture and give everyone hope since we seemed to be on the right track. The only thing I fault Udoka for was advocating for the KD trade, which I believe was a mistake because I didn't believe KD could lead a team to a championship and would've rather used last year's draft pick to select a player. I think we'd be in a better position if we had used the pick on a player like Cedric Coward who seems to be thriving in Memphis, but I digress. This season hasn't caused me to lose faith in Udoka but I have lost faith in the young core that Stone drafted. I think you can make a case to trade anyone on this team including Sengun and Amen for a player to pair with KD to give him a better shot at competing for a championship this year. Like I said before, I didn't want KD in the first place and this was the big reason why...if the roster with KD isn't working, the front office will be forced to deal players and draft picks to bring in help to support KD during his time here. We've essentially abandoned our patient roster building strategy of getting players through the draft to go back to the way things were during the Morey/Harden era where the draft was an afterthought and he made trades to pair Harden with another star. But this time, Stone will be doing it with a 37 year old star that will retire soon...a fool's game!
Why? Why do y’all want to get older? To appease Van Gundy? To appease the 37 year old? You accept you made a mistake, you trade him for scraps and reset your timeline. There is no trade that is going to make you a contender. Giannis. Giannis. Giannis. Giannis. Giannis. Same Giannis, surrounded by shooters(which he needs, which we don’t have), can’t get his team out of the first round, team currently under .500 but he’s gonna come here & carry Van Gundy and pass out to *checks notes* Jabroni, Amen, Capela, Adams, Davison, Tate, Holiday. Fan****ingtastic. Giannis infatuation gotta ****ing stop. 2020-21: Jrue-Middleton-Tucker-Giannis-Lopez | Connaughton-DiVincenzo-Portis-Forbes (WON TITLE) 2021-22: Jrue-Matthews-Middleton(2G)-Giannis-Lopez | Connaughton-Allen-Portis-G.Hill-J.Carter (LOST TO BOS 4-3 2ND RD) 2022-23: Jrue-Allen-Middleton-Giannis(3G)-Lopez | Connaughton-Matthews-Portis-Ingles-J.Carter-Crowder (LOST TO MIA 4-1 1ST RD) 2023-24: Lillard-Bev-Middleton-Portis-Lopez | Connaughton-Beasley-A.Jackson-Gallinari-AJ Green-Crowder (LOST TO IND 4-2 1ST RD) 2024-25: Lillard(3G)-Trent Jr.-Kuzma-Giannis-Lopez | KPJ-AJ Green-Portis-Prince-Sims-Rollins (LOST TO IND 4-1 1ST RD) 2025-26: KPJ-Rollins-Green-Giannis-Turner | Co.Anthony-Trent-Kuzma-Portis-Sims-Harris (17-24, 11TH EAST) “But Giannis was hurt. That’s why they suck!” … Another reason to say no. 3-11 in games he missed, 14-13 when he has played
So if we fired Ime, who would be a contender for better coach? I personally fully am on board keeping Ime, but do think Ime needs to grow. Specifically his rotations need to make more sense, he needs to call appropriate time outs, and needs to develop some offsenive sets that allow more ball movement.
Ime recently got extended, no idea if that money is guaranteed. Putting aside fan's opinions, it'd take a lot more for Stone to do this, let alone mid season. Are there coaches that ya'll want to go for? Lead assistant of other teams? Mike Malone? Or a fresh name, outside the NBA. Bunch of the lead candidates in the same running as Kenny Atkinson at the time were taken. The popular assistants like Adleman's son fill in the vacancy. Nori? (and no Chris Quinn pls). People here also meh on the Vogels of the world. Kerr current public statement is not a different HC gig of outside of Curry. For the known candidate pool it's dryer than couple years back.
