I wouldn't say that those two teams are better than us right now. The Heat haven't beat any quality teams and the Magic lost to the Bobcats. I'd say all 3 teams are about the same right now. We did beat 2 west playoff teams though.

We our 4th to last in scoring the league. Utah, Bucks, Miami, Washington, Cavs, Clips, Phili, Tor, Det, Boston, Bulls, NO, Knicks are all ahead of us and I wouldn't say they have a lot of scoring talent, atleast not much more than us. And we have the 2-time scoring champ.

Just a prime example that counters your argument. The FREAK'N Charlotte BobCats are almost scoring 10ppg more than us. Come on, they have Okafor and a 1st year coach.

Don't blame our scoring woes on the players. We have enough scoring out there to be up the numbers, we just don't have the system to do so.

What are you talking about? The problem is that right now JVG isn't making Yao our go to guy. Both Taylor and Jackson are taking more shots than Yao, and Yao isn't even involved in alot of plays.

He is only using Yao as a one-dimensional player (post), but the fact is that Yao is capable of doing so much more.

I'm not saying we need to be a running team, I have never said that. But we need to be a more balanced team, something JVG has never been able to accomplish, even with an abundance of scorers on his teams.

Blah, blah, no matter what some of you say about JVG. He's the not the right coach for Rox. Since when our beloved Rox has become Houston Knicks? just ugly basketball. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with playing tougth defense. However, We can play good defense not at the expense of good offense. Under JVG, that's exactly what's happening. He's not gonna take us to the promised land. Period.

Even if he takes us to the second round playoffs, he's not gonna bring us the rings.

    1. Our O's biggest problem is how to use yao.
    2. JVG, I have to say is not good at O.
    3. Have to give him some time to see.

Maybe that's the problem. We played just 9 games. The Bobcats didn't play against many good teams. And then again they play a totally different style of offense. They split the points and have no real go-to-guy. We play a playoff system throughout the whole season. One or two stars, the rest roleplayers and a setplay offense. The Bobcats won't win anything and their only chance is to share the load. If we played the same way we might as well score 95 points but we still wouldn't be an elite offensive team and our defense would suck.

And I didn't say 87 ppg are enough for us. We played a couple of really bad games. Wait 10-15 games and we will be over 90 ppg. And the Bobcats won't be much better. I say they will be worse.

It's still too early to look too much into the stats. With 10-15 more games we should rank higher and score over 90 ppg.

We score just about 90 ppg because of the system. That's right, we could do a little better. But we have this system because it can hide the weaknesses of our roster.

    1. Mo and Jimmy take fewer shots than Yao.
    2. You don't think that Yao's inconsistency has nothing to do with his shots, his ppg and his overall play?
    3. Too few games to look too deep into the stats.

We will be a balanced team with more time and better players. If we had a better pg and not two redundant pfs nobody would talk about JVG because we would contend. Well, you maybe still would want JVG to be fired.

Its obvious we're not going to agree on much, but its always good to listen to the opposition.

I brought up the Bobcats, because you said that we don't have enough scoring talent on this team. No matter how they are doing it, the Bobcats are still able to score, and they probably have the worst offensive team in the NBA. Ya, they aren't going to win. But it just shows that any team in the NBA can score, they all have the talent, it just comes down to how you do it.

I'm not looking just at the stats this season so far. I'm looking at JVG's entire coaching record, that is why I am saying he is not going to lead us anywhere. The 9 games we've played this season is the exact replica of all of last season and his 5 seasons with the Knicks.

Atleast you recognize its the system. You say its a system that hidse the weaknesses of our roster, but its also not using the strengths of it either.

I sure hope you're right. But history will show different. JVG has never balanced out his offense/defense. I have no confidence that JVG can do this, he never has before and he has had his share of scoring talent.

Also, I sure am hearing a lot of excuses for a guy that said "No Excuses."

gucci888, what is more important to you scoring alot of points but not making it to the playoffs or scoring 88-92 points a game and being in the playoffs? Just curious because from all your posts, one wouldnt be able to tell.

wtf are u refering to? As long as his offense produces more points than his defense allows, he is balancing the two! And since you have studied his "history" so well, Im suprised you didnt realized this.

So you would think getting to playoffs, making it to the second round and having a winning record this season = not leading us anywhere?? Because since solely basing what will happend this season on JVG's 5year record, that's what u get... second round in the playoffs, winning record and yes defensive emphasis. This of course if we can somehow like you see the future, base only on JVG's past 5 season with the knicks.

Obviously I would take wins over scoring anyday. But what are we seeing so far? Our defense is doing its job, its the offense that is the problem.

As long as the offense is producing more than the defense, its balanced? The Kings can score 100ppg and give up 102ppg, does that mean their offense is balanced with their defense?

Wow! JVG has made the playoffs and have gone to the 2nd round in the East. Don't forget he also made went to the finals once year. But that was a different time and a different conference. Just because he was able to do those things else where, that doesn't mean it is right for this team.

BTW, we don't have a winning record this season.

The Rox sholda gotten Barry alright, but not Brent. Jon woulda been a great addition to this team. With the way we've lost some games this year, if we had a smarter PG like Jon, we'd be 6-3 or 7-2 instead of this 4-5 stinkhole we're in right now

Simply put, the answer to the first question is YES. An offense that scores more than its defense allows would be adequately balanced! So since the kings offense scores less than its defense allows.... why would it be considered adequately balanced???? You see how that doesnt add up to the first statement? thus it wouldnt be? See?

wow im so glad u realized this! That the past dont exactly determine the outcome of the future, but rather provides us a slight idea or clue to how things might work out. Its just too bad the person who wrote the following dont seem to...

    and also this...

gee i wonder who wrote those?? They obviously thought they knew EXACTLY what will happen based on the past! Only they only knew that exactly the bad stuff will be certain while not the good stuff it seems. hmm perhaps you should him inform that poor person that what was it again... oh yah

The offense should be just as effective as the defense, thats what I mean about balance.

The Defense can be perfect, but if we can't put the ball in the basket, then things aren't balanced. A good team has both the offenses and defenses working and carrying the load. A JVG team doesn't, it relies soley on defense to win games.

And you're doing the exact same things. You are praising JVG for getting to the playoffs and crap, yet you are ignoring the fact that he hasn't been able to produce offensively.

Look, I don't like JVG (like I need to tell you), he hasn't shown me anything to earn my respect. What has he done to earn yours?

    1) The Grizzlies and Nuggets were supposed to come running out of the gate and I don't see them crying about getting rid of the coach or trading away players from the team already.

    2) The Pistons are not an anomoly. They play aggressive defense from beginning to end, they spread the floor on offense and have a much better game offensively than the Rockets have. They won by grit, determination and playing as a team. Defense does win championships, if offense did, then tell me why the Mavericks don't have three championships in a row?

There are no excuses to how the Rockets are playing. It is a fact that the entire team was almost turned over. The Rockets are playing without their starting PG. JVG is still seeing how this team is meshing and gelling together. This does happen to some teams.

If this were happening in the middle of the season than I would say you're right things need to change, lets make a deal to improve. But its nine freaking games into the season can we just hold off on the sky is falling shouts until we get Sura back and determine what this team can do on the court as a complete unit. By no means am I saying that Sura is a savior, but he plays good defense at the one, and lets see if he is capable of making an inlet pass into Yao, or maybe initiate a little offense.

I'm sure people in the fan base's are. But the Denver Post does have an article about Bzdelick (sp?) and how he isn't coaching well.

    umm... no
Please read my post and tell me if my post is about praising van gundy? OR... Is it about people making definite conclusions and assumptions and declaring them FACTS based only on history all the while ignoring certain parts of said history... ANd for you here is my post
again realize this one in reply to ur statement about van gundy leading us no where based on his history. Also note the sarcasm of the last sentence, where it states "if we can somehow like you see the future" since all ur statements abut our team are based on a gaint sample of 9 WHOLE games.

This is where your missing my point. Im not here to defend JVG or make his case. Im not argueing whether or not he is a good coach for us or not. My point is, Its been 9 friggin games and a whole bunch of other variables. We are 4-5 its not the end of the world. THE SEASON IS NOT LOST!!! So if you and others want to whine and b**** about our team, keep in mind that. And when u want to b**** about JVG or any other person... atleast make ur arguments valid for god sakes... Atleast make some sense. Statements like
are all over your post, where as i already pointed out and you agree, ignore a large part of the truth while emphasizing others to "prove" your own beliefs.

finally i dont know if jvg is a bad coach, but i know 9 games into the season, with a 4-5 record, with yao, tmac and sura hurt, only an idiot would fire the head coach or declare the team or the season lost. Lucky for us while some gm and owners are indeed idiots, even they realize this. So please, go read Jeff's thread and repeat to urself, THE SKY IS NOT FALLING, THE SKY IS NOT FALLLING...
otherwise, as Tyler Durden or was it Edward Norton refered to it,
    go and
