[eye test] Last year he was fine but it seems like the overall degradation of the Rockets defensive infrastructures has exposed his weaknesses again. According to the not eye test this is true too Rockets DRTG goes from 115 to 112 when he's OFF. Last year was the opposite - 4 better when he's ON Lack of good perimeter defenders - no Dillon, FVv and even Jalen who was better than we gave him credit for & certainly better than Reed Playing with KD who is pretty meh on D (and is 37 and carries a huge offensive burden) A more stretched Thompson Also offensively it seemed like he was taking a leap in the early going but he seems to have plateaued at bit IDK what to do
Eye test, he has been rushed back and playing on a bum ankle and bum shoulder, probably has back problems once in a while. Not that a 37 year old has the stamina to carry this team all the way thru. Problem has been Reed's and Amen's development are not as big as everyone here thought, not enough for contention.
The truth is that our young core is nothing impressive whatsoever and extremely flawed Sengun is a big man with 57% TS on the season giving us a whopping 22 ppg, and no team is worried about his defensive presence…franchise player my ass
Sure but why not admit that Udoka has been regressing, he has not been able to keep this group disciplined for long. I do think that FVV injury was bad and unfortunate but it exposed everything Udoka stood for. Dillon and Fred were the heart and soul of that Udoka team. It just became something else when those 2 are not around.
last year, the entire squad was playing hustle defense and you can somewhat hide him. this year, you can't hide both sengun AND KD. not only do you have to hide sengun and KD for your starters, you have to hide reed for the bench unit. smh. too many players to hide on defense.
I really don’t like watching him play anymore. His effort on defense is terrible, he rarely ever contests jump shooters or anyone coming to the paint. Same can be said about Adams. He also holds the ball too much on offense, he plays selfish at times. Can’t shoot, can’t defend, and can’t finish well in the paint. He’s regressed so much since his rookie year, he looks overweight and clumsy. The rockets need to trade some of these guys while they have value. Sengun is not a superstar.
If he doesnt take care of his body he will soon become the next nurkic, we made an excuse for him losing his touch last year and it seem like his touch isnt like his 3rd year.

He plays so lazy, he rarely jumps at all. Not for rebounds, not to contest shots, not even on finishes in the paint (which is probably why he misses so much). I’m also tired of watching him cry to the refs every play even on plays where he blows wide open layups.
We can’t score the ball for long stretches, none of our guys are reliable 3 pt shooters, Amen literally has no offensive game beyond two handed dunks and Jabari Smith Jr still plays like he’s only 6ft tall. Meanwhile, Sengun is the only guy who can run a play and is swarmed every time he touches the ball due to the offensive ineptitude of every one else (other than KD). But yeah, his defense is the problem.
I feel pretty confident if Alpi played for any other team, he would be putting exactly same stat (21/9/6). Sometime you worry that player you trade away could revenge with ridiculous leap into superstardom. At this point I’m pretty confident Sengun is who he is right now, I was amazed how crafty his handling and vision was when he was rookie and I confidently say he hasn’t improved his vision nor passing I would even go as he have regressed.
The worst thing is that his country treats him like MJ so his head is really big, he needs to be humble like before when he had hunger.
I hate how he tries to flop on every drive or backdown in the paint…it’s the same thing KAT does they make it look like they’re getting mauled when they drive into the paint when they’re the one initiating all the contact…and they’re not crafty with it like a Shai or Harden so they just look goofy and it doesn’t work
