That agent should be charged with assault at the least. He fired blindly into a crowd, at close range, with a weapon that is intended to hurt people. People that, at the time, posed no threat. He shouldn't be breaking laws, And especially not filming them, that's stupid. But I'm pretty sure I've seen a precedent set lately where you can break laws on camera and not have any kind of penalty, from trespassing to assault, all the way up to and including murder.
there was a story a few weeks ago about a man who died in an ICE detention facility because they refused to give him his diabetes medication as he was held there for a few months…he had been in the country for decades, had a wife, and was a small business owner…his neighbors loved him
Stopping in to give another update. Things are still very tense here in Minneapolis and likely to get worse. There are now more federal agents here than Minneapolis and St Paul police force combined and more are coming. I’m sure yall saw what happened last night. A friend of mine who lives in that neighborhood was hit by a rubber bullet. Even before the shooting last night at Judo practice one of the other black belts didn’t show up because he has an Ecuadorian wife and they are scared. Some of the students didn’t show up for the same reason. My work is being affected as construction crews are afraid to show up for work. This is even though our main projects are in a city outside of the Twin Cities. This is on top of that several US Citizens have been arrested by ICE. Even four Native American men have been arrested and are still in custody. These aren’t people who were following or interfering with ICE but just out in public doing things like filling up their gas tanks. They were arrested just based on appearance and accent. This Saturday there is planned march by multiple right wing groups through the neighborhood with the most Somalis living in it. There have been calls by several community groups to not show up and confront them. There is a lot of fear though that they will be agitating and looking to harass locals and others. The weather here is going have snow squalls and subzero temps. On Saturday the high is 5 with possible double digit below wind chill. Normally they would be cause for grumbling but with everything going on it is hoped that will limit ICE and the Rightwing March.
You missed the point. If ICE agents are going around without a court order subpoena and rounding random people up, then ATF could do the same looking for "illegal guns". And if legal guns and illegal guns look the same, there's the justification. And any resistance to a federal agent is now a death penalty. Have fun protecting yourself against drone strikes. There was no medical appointment. She isn't disabled. She is dating a trans man, has a decade long history of BLM , LGBTQ activism and is part of ICE watch groups that show up, confront officers, obstruct with vehicles and bellhorns, then play victim as they are filmed resisting. They think social media will cause some kind of uprising but as I mentioned, teenagers are able to see through it. Let alone adults. There is nothing honest about it. She has no council or medical professional speaking on her behalf -- only she has diagnosed herself with "autism" yet she had a job in the tech field where none of this was known. There is no disability sticker on her car. Linked In page: Her bio reads, "She was an ABD doctoral student in Educational Leadership at Miami University when she left academia to work full-time as field staff in the social justice movement.
