The guest on Mina Kimes’ pls this morning mentioned the patriots do a lot of 6 Olinemen sets. Kind of like us. And a chunk of their pass explosives come from that formation. The left side of their Oline is absolutely dog poop in pass pro. Seems like Josh and Vrabel have been able to hide a significant weakness via scheme and a historically easy schedule. This is where our Patriot way hires might bear fruit. Pop, Caley, scout team and BDN know everything about Josh and his tendencies.
You should be worried he's going to outcoach DeMeco and Burke, not Caley. That makes no sense. McDaniels is a better OC than Caley. But a significant margin: he's really good. But Caley doesn't need to be better than Josh McDaniels; he just needs to be better than Vrabel/whoever the Pats' DC is.
The upside to the Patriots playing an historically easy schedule: they haven't been tested and might not know how to react when they get legitimately punched in the nose. Or in the case of this Texans defense, have their souls obliterated, forcing them to confront their holy maker. The downside: the Pats have likely been able to withhold some of their fancier, more complex formations and designs, and that could catch the Texans off-guard.
Insane stats are IN-SANE TEXANS-TEA TV on X: "“The Houston Texans are 3-0 when CJ Stroud has 3 or more turnovers… They can make it to the Superbowl” https://t.co/ghgtyaXauB" / X
Let me tell you a little story (true) about being used to the Snow and Ice. I grew up in SE Texas and only saw snow stick above a dusting twice and I was too young to remember the one in 1961 when I was 3. Anyway, i moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan for a job having NEVER driven in snow. I had an appointment in Holland and was extremely anxious because the snow was falling pretty hard and visibility was about the same as driving around here in a thick fog. I passed hundreds of vehicles driven by locals which slid off the road and into the ditches on either side of IH-196 and I made it without incident. The moral of this story. SOMETIMES FAMILIARITY IS NOT AN ADVANTAGE.
I think it's a long shot for him to make it back in time for the Superbowl myself. Second Concussion missing games and a second significant impact that game. I would be shocked if he's not out for the year.
The way he was playing this game. Is it fair to say he was playing concussed after a hit early? Slipping, dropping balls, a non factor.
Patriot Defense played these QB's this year. Raiders- Geno Smith 362 yrds 2 TD's and 1 INT Dolphins- Tua 315 yrds 2 TD's and 1 INT Pitt- Rodgers 139 yards 2 TD's and 1 INT Carolina- Young/Dalton(young hurt early) - 208 2 TD's Buffalo - Josh Allen - 253 Yrds 2 TD's and 1 INT Saints- Rattler - 227 Yrds Titans- Cam Ward - 255 yrds 1 TD and 1 INT Browns- Gabriel - 156 yrds 2 TD's 2 Int's Falcons- Penix - 221 Yrds 3 TD's TB- Mayfield - 273 yrds 3 TD's Jets- Justin Fields - 116 yrds 1 INT Bengals- Joe Flacco - 183 yrds 1 TD 1 INT Giants- Jaxon Dart - 139yrds - 1TD Buffalo- Josh Allen - 193yrds- 3 TD's Baltimore- .5 Lamar/ .5 Tyler Huntley - 166 yrds 0TD Jets- Bryan Cook- 152yrds - 1 INT Dolphins- Quinn Ewers- 137 yrds - 1TD 1 Int Justin Herbert- 159 yrds Where does Stroud fall on there? You could make an argument he is the best pocket passer of the group. Yes, I get Allen, but he is more create on the perimeter where most of yards came from in the two games. Texans match up really well against New England. Defense shows up, they will win. Texans are playing a paper tiger on Sunday. What an absolute joke of a QB schedule.
For some reason I think CJ plays better without Nico. He locks in on Nico a lot, now he is forced to spread the ball around.
Actually hilarious putting Danielle Hunter and their LT side by side. Reminds me of the days I played HS football against North Shore when they were loaded with D1 talent. It just looked different.
Someone check my memory, but wasn't it Hutchinson who ran Nico's routes the last time Nico was out? Everyone was expecting Higgins - I think.
I can't tell you how much I hope he makes it all the way back. But most players that make it back to play after that type of injury are not the same.
