Exactly, once Sil@ss ball was over with KPJ/JG trash ball being thrown in the trash bin where it belonged, the Rockets started winning with Sengun as the anchor.
Think he meant he had that in the past, and played thru it.......idiosyncratic choice of words. He did say 'this' all his life, ....ankle sprains all his life .....exeggeration.
His flexibility can be a problem as much as a help. People who are hypermobile often have joint pains and injuries. The bigger issue to me is that his shooting has gotten even worse than before, I didn’t think that was even possible. Watching his form last night it looked wonky, like he’s experimenting.
I think in the context he's trying to say that he's played through minor injuries all his life. I don't think he means that he's had ankle issues his whole life. Just that dealing with these minor injuries and playing through them is a part of the sport, and something he's used to.
I didn't want to mention this but seeing some of KD's negative body language early in games I'm wondering how much 65 games and post-season award eligibility plays in to this. It felt like KD's body language suggested Alpi wasn't ready to shoulder that load but he just slid right back in and started. Alpi's played 29/37. He's appeared in 30/37 but injury game < 20 min. He was 27/35 before his return. 27/35 = 77% of team games played 65/82 = 79% of team games played to qualify If he'd missed 2 full weeks per initial estimates (guesses?) then he'd have returned at 27/39 or 69% and that type of deficit is big enough to where if you miss another 10 days you're not making 65 games. I don't know...just something feels wierd w/ all of it. Probably b/c of all of skepticism surrounding the Rox training staff and injury timelines/assessments. But I can't deny there's also a part of me that thinks Sengun placed All-NBA eligibility over other things to drive his early return. As is, now he can wear another 10-d or 2 week injury and as long as he plays the rest he'll qualify. Good...I guess? Am I reaching? Love our boy. But we know he loves his accolades.
Stats/awards culture. KD complained about it recently (ring culture). Like how they weren't heaving the ball anymore because it would look bad on their stats. Also staying in in a blowout to add to their triple double numbers (triple double is the stupidest most arbitratry stat in sports). Players know as well that so long as you produce stats people won't think that you're part of the problem when your team is losing.
This team has just completely forgotten how to even look for Sengun in the post. Ime's offense working wonders.
Someone explain to me why the hell Sengun needs a rhythm dribble when you’re several inches taller than the guy guarding you (Carrouso). Straight up shoot it. He has that little confidence in his ability to shoot from a standstill or without fading backward? I mean granted I don’t and anyone who has watched him shouldn’t, but at the very least with 2 seconds on the shot clock he should. i will say it again, his Turkish coaches did him no favors neglecting shooting in his youth development. way they developed him in youth basketball. If he cannot elevate above lousy shooting by his 5th season, it’s highly unlikely he ever will. Maybe for a brief period after a summer with his personal coach but he will always revert to this. It’s a real shame.
I’d rather trade Durant. He is even a worse fit than Giannis with Amen and Sengun since all he does is ISO and middies and plays **** defense. At least with Giannis, Ime could lean in on his defense only philosophy and we would again be a monster in transition. Durant, Reed and the Phoenix picks and Dallas pick for Giannis and KPJ.
