he did make that one catch on Tal’s Hill. We also put Biggio out there …Carlos Lee was also fat and played LF lol
It would take a massive haul for anyone to get Marte with his production and contract. I don’t think Duran, Early, and Tolle gets it done. We’d have to give half our minor leagues for the guy.
An outfield unit of Duran (or Abreu), Sanchez, Cole, Smith, Matthews, and Dezenzo would be plenty good.
I still think there’s a market for him that will justify a trade. We should know in the next 10-15 days.
Michael Myers is presumed to be finally dead after years of stalking his sister. Jake Meyers is still waiting to see which uniform he'll put on next year, but he had his Astros Jersey dry cleaned just in case.
Hopefully it's because real work toward a trade is getting done and they don't have time to notify talking heads agents what narrative to say in public.
Willi Castro to the Rockies on a 2 year deal. Probably a smart add for them. They really need to raise their floor with versatile proven players who can turn into trade chips. Castro would have been a good fit for Houston’s roster if they trade Paredes.
Even with Paredes he would have been a good fit, basically a better Dubon I really worry about Allen being our main utility
Castro only got $13M/2yrs so that’s a very good value. I would have loved him on the Astros for that price. But I’m not worried about Allen as the primary backup at SS and 2B, especially as the roster currently stands. With both Correa and Paredes on the roster, Correa effectively is the backup at SS. Allen will only play SS as a defensive upgrade late in games (where he is elite) and in blowouts when it doesn’t matter. At 2B, Matthews is available if a true backup or longer term offensive fill in is needed. I am also relatively high on Whitcomb as a 2B if something were to happen to Altuve or Matthews. Even if Paredes were traded I think the net result would be more playing time for Matthews, not Allen. Basically I can only see Allen being used in situations that play to his strengths. He is the kind of player who is excellent as a 12th or 13th man, average as a utility player, and below average to bad as an everyday player. His defense is good enough to give him a pretty high floor; he’s put up positive value for his career despite being one of the absolute weakest hitters in all of MLB.
I only do this deal if Early is coming back in the deal. Pitching is what will keep the Stros contenders for the for seeable future. Crane being a former pitcher understands this more than most.
You have way more faith in Espada than I do You also have WAY more faith in Whitcomb than either Espada or Dana, neither of whom have shown they want to truly give him a chance
Dominos probably about to start falling Pretty quickly after the Tucker deal. 60 mil AAV is insane. Expecting a work stoppage after the season for sure.
