Not sure about last year but one year when I tracked it they were wrong with their predictions on 4 of 6 division winners. No matter how much they try they can't account for injuries especially like the Astros had last year. They also can't account for young players breaking out, or a significant swing in the performance of veteran players. For instance, they estimated Pena to put up 2.4 fWAR last year. He put up 5.7 fWAR. They estimated Yordan to put up 5.6 fWAR. He put up 0.5 fWAR.
PFF is even worse because they are making educated guesses on coverages, routes, protection, etc. The baseball projections are more statistically based.
If Cam isn't playing every day, he needs to be sent back down to the minors to improve. Wasting a year of pre arbitration so he can be a platoon player while also most likely stunting his growth is a terrible idea.
Gives him a way to have a chance to see if he can contribute on the big league roster Brice is a high upside guy, but the failure rate on guys with his skill set is also very high
Since this nugget by Nook, I figured there is a good chance of something happening. Now with the Red Sox signing Ranger, I have a gut feeling that something is imminent. And I am excited, because I don't think we pull the trigger unless we get a good deal. So I am in full refresh mode, which is probably stupid, because it's possible that nothing happens. Git er done Dana!
I don’t disagree, but he doesn’t need many more at bats in AAA. It’s about time for him to sink or swim in the big leagues or be traded to improve the MLB roster.
Red Sox losing Bregs hopefully makes them desperate to prove that losing Devers was also not a waste...
The Astros shouldn't be on anybody else's timetable. They should let chips fall and see how the market is trending. They don't have to trade Paredes and could even wait till the deadline if needed.
I don't want them to trade Paredes. I was responding to the post directly above mine about the Red Sox being desperate because they lost Bregman. If Red Sox desperation is the goal to maximize the value of a potentially pending Paredes deal than Eugenio Suarez signing elsewhere would be even better.
This is where I'm at, If the Red Sox want Parades, it should hurt them. Duran and Early for Parades and Hicks.
Can Paredes really not learn LF? Doesn’t that solve everything …, (except the LH bat). He can be our super utility guy, take most starts in left and then sub out in the infield ? We don’t think he’d be worse than Alvarez or Altuve out there ? And in the few ballparks where LF defense really matter, he can play one other IF positions and Sanchez or whoever will play in left . Idk. Seems like it has worked out before,
